There are clearly two distinct categories going on here. Those flicks you choose to watch with intent and forethought and might be afraid to let others know you intentionally decided to spend time viewing them, and those flicks that are on cable which hook you in every time you happen to click on them while tooling about the channels. The first part is hard to figure since most of the people I know have tastes which run in the same vein anyway.

The second category is the one more prone to getting a few "really??" type looks.

Road House, is one that I have clicked on and not left a number of times.
    Last Samurai, is another.
Despicable Me, is a fairly recent one...
2012, for all the over the top special effects
    Various Rambo movies
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...(I actually own the Vinyl LP of the soundtrack...)
    Ferris Bueller...what can one say.
Flesh and Blood (Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Lee)
Rush...love the soundtrack (own it) and it can just suck you into the mood
many obscure Fantasy titles if it has redeeming features...
    Sarlona - The Ko Brotherhood :Jareko-Elf Ranger12Rogue8+4E; Hennako-Human Cleric22; Rukio-Human Paladin18; Taellya-Halfling Rogue16; Zenako-Dwarf Fighter10Cleric1; Daniko-Drow Bard20; Kerriganko-Human Cleric18; Buket-WF Fighter6; Xenophilia-Human Wiz20; Zenakotwo-Dwarf Cleric16; Yadnomko-Halfling Ftr12; Gabiko-Human Bard15; lots more

while each can be listed as a classic by a number of people, few are by the supposed movie experts, i.e. film critics. btw i usually enjoy films that film critics usually pan. for the most part a lot of people can say most in my list are cheesey but most will say they are very enjoyable to watch.

My list are from both catagories you list, they are also the movies that no matter what I am doing whether playing DDO or surfing the web or doing my online classwork, I can pop in the disc and not even have to look up at the tv to know what is going on.

Really guilty, I only feel when I watch Anime... and no, not "Elfenlied" or "Evangelion" or something like that, I wouldn´t feel guilty watching this ones, but:
    "Love Hina"
    "School Rumble"
    "Solty Rei"
... and so on. Oh, yeah...I feel guilty. But at least I have infected two other friends, so the guilt is not so big.

A movie I cannot help but to watch to the end if I catch it somewhere:

    "Groundhog day"
    "Star Wars" (IV-VI...)
    Some older James Bond movie

By the way, for the ghibli lovers, don´t miss this movie:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_Waves_(film)

It is quite different, no fantasy at all, and the young japanese mind is extremly good reflected.

You mean the fine actor best known for playing EOMIR 3rd Marshal of the Mark of Rohan and nephew to the king himself in some of the awesomest (and most successful) movies ever also known as the

LORD OF THE FRIGGIN RINGS TRILOGY ("friggin" not in actual title)

His name is Karl Urban. He's been in significant roles in the following moves:

    1. Bourne Supremecy
    2. Chronicles of Rid**** (I'd give you a pass on this one) [EDIT <------ lol it censored the last part of "Rid-d-i-c-k" silliness]
    3. DID I MENTION LORD OF THE FRIGGIN RINGS???!!!!

But you remember him from playing BONES!!!????????????!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ah...Karl Urban. When I didn't even recognize him as Bones. I loved the character and wasimpressed with a job well done capturing DeForest Kelley's performance. Then I got to the end credits. My jaw DROPPED. No way! Riders of Rohan, indeed!

THe New Star Trek Movie was good and bad. I guess an guilty pleasure for this old time Trekkie! (I am NOT a Trekker! Stupid new age fans!!!)
