Default Might be more of a Khyber thing

Okay TR I get - they're likely running fast for good xp per min and will cry tears if someone dies and ruins it. The vet thing though? Is that just short hand for "yes I know this quest well" or are they seriously wanting players who've been here since before ftp?

And are they saying either a TR or a vet, or a TR and a vet?

I'm running a toon on thelanis btw and while I see the TR tag up on the lfms, not noticed the calls for players to be vets too. I think this has become a fad on khyber to add that into the lfm.
I don't think it has anything to do with when the pesron started as much as how good of a player they are. I think that a guy who's self sufficent and run the quest a few times and knows his way around wouldn't be a vet. I also don't think he/she should be eliminated from a quest and vets only does exactly that.
If the toon is named after a beer 17 of them are mine & 1 more not named after a beer (the black sheep of the family). Beware there are a few beer imposters out there. Unless the toon has been "Banned From All Guilds" it's a fake Beer_Dude. Fake Beer in your group leaves a nasty taste.

I'd like to add that I use vet as someone who has done the quest enough to keep up with me and stay alive. The way I use it (or interpret it) doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be an amazing all around player, but a decent enough player that you are worth the dungeon scaling without needing to be babysat.

Ah, I didn't realize it was specifically addressed at me. I don't think I met you when I was a general noob/newb (or if I did, I didn't remember it). I mean, I still consider myself a noob in some areas; I have never touched a few areas (mostly low level, old adventure packs), and I don't really know necro 1/3 (due to my general dislike of the packs), but I think I know the grand majority of the game very well.

I'm kind of embarrassed by this sometimes, but I learned the game very slowly and painfully with some IRL friends and some other people that came in when F2P came out. A lot of trial and error, followed by mediocre raids that I put LFMs for where people were quite nooby and my skill level.

By the time I got through that painful phase, I was no longer what I would classify as a noob, but rather an average overall player. So by the time I started running with my current guildies and other vets, I was self sufficient. I've been in Ransack for about a year now, and had been running with them for a few months before that. Like I said earlier in the thread, I don't think running with vets is always a good thing for noobs, because when twinked out vets and destroying everything in sight, you don't get the twitch skills that being a good player requires. Being around good players allow you to gain knowledge about quests, but twitch comes from playing your character, not running around like a hireling mopping up.

To get to where I am at today? Yes, no doubt it was thanks in a large part to my guild and the other vets around here. But I think being a good player is 2 parts: game knowledge (learned from running quests a lot, and running with knowledgeable people) and twitch skills (learned from soloing and taking a large part in quests). Had I not been running around by myself and exploring the games controls, I don't think I would be quite the player I am today. I've found that my reflexes have been honed by my FPS experience, but also by having terrible teammeates who I couldn't always rely on.

Many of us have alts that are trying to level up that are not TRs, so those would be considered vets.
Its nice to open your group a little more than to just TRs.

The main thing tho, is that new players hate running with TRs and Vets because they speed through the quest so fast. Can you imagine running The Pit for the first time with a TR zerg group? Not fun.

I'm all for differentiating a lfm so a newb doesn't get unhappily caught up in a zerg.

So, basically vet when tagged into a lfm means know the quest, bring your self healing and don't drag the group down. Okay, thanks for clarifying =)

I don't think all tr's zerg and and cry over lost xp.... well at least me and the ones I run with don't. Some of the best runs out there are the ones like a few nights ago while running with a buddy in undermine, he sets the charge up to get rid of the boulder, we're standing in that little alcove, and he says to me"hmm wonder how close you can be to the explosion...." We were too close, and yet too far from the rez shrine. It was classic.

I shy away from ones that have the tr/vet thing on the lfm just for the reason I know their play style won't mesh with mine
Oh and I love going into pit with a bunch of people who know/zerg it... they tend to tell me to stay put at the start so I don't fall off things and play in the lava
~Cari, Pikearella, Sheezza, and a bunch of other toons that kinda get ignored ~
