Default Problems using a +5 heart

Tried to use a +5 heart today on my character to change several classes...

    Current is 15 Ranger / 3 Paladin / 2 Monk

Want to change it to 18 Ranger / 1 Monk / 1 Rogue

Bought the +5 heart, went through the process, went to character creation and was told that Sorry you have to be a Ranger/Monk/Paladin to start with...

Spoke to in game help, and was told that I would need to use two hearts to take care of this.

This is unacceptable, Did I miss something in the Dialog? The GM dismissed it as the mechanics was working correctly.

They are correct. You only allowed a maximum of 3 classes so you would have to use 1 heart to phase out the paladin levels, then on a second LR you'll be able to put in the rogue. Even though you overwrite the pally it still considers you as a ranger / paladin / monk and therefore you cannot put in a 4th class.
Don't let common sense stop you...
