A good DC would be somewhere between 40-45+

Ways to improve your DC's are to increase your int. (+7 int item, +3 exceptional, +1 litany, +3 Wizard Enhancements, +1 Human/Helf Adaptability, +5 level ups, etc).

Wizard Past Life also gives you +1 to all DC's.

+2 DC items, Staff of the Petitioner, Staff of Inner Sight, Dreamspitter, etc.

Bard Past Life Gives +1 Enchantment.

Heighten effects your DC for spells that are lower than level 9.

Yugo pots are great too, the only temporary effect I use.

Wizard/Bard Capstone help DC's too, but looks like you knew that

Symbol of Death, followed by Circle of Death, then a Wail to mop up any survivors worked for my caster in her first life as an 18/2 Archmage Wiz/Rogue with 38 Necro DC. Obviously, 40 DC would be a lot more reliable, but it definitely works in the easier epics (House P and non-drow in House D, Fens fishies tend to have higher saves).

38 DC did not cut it when clearing out the entranceway to Wiz King, of course.

Yup. I use it in my epic runs and ToD (well, I will once I level this TR back up.) Works in anything so long as you have a high DC

Haven't played a Wiz, but my caster Cleric loved this spell for Epic zombies in VoN5. I'm sure it would be just as good on the trash undead in epic WizKing, too.

Never used it in something lower, like Orchard. There, a Cleric can turn, or Positive Energy Burst, or BB.

I believe it's still capped at a 4 target maximum, but it's an excellent spell nevertheless.

I've seen the same effect and it does seem to be 1 second'ish. Just long enough that if you get noticed and they charge you you'll miss.

If you weren't using auto-target or hard targeting, you wouldn't need to use the spell at close range, which is the solution proposed by the poster I responded to.

OR I was referring to something else, having nothing to do with where I am targetting, and more to do with the scattering. Which is why I mentioned running.
