Is this server 'good' for testing content packs?

Someone once said that if you wanted to try stuff for yourself, you should go to Lamannia and try it, since you get points there for free. However, while it is true, the question I ask is, "Is this server any good for trying out mid-level content packs?" I'd love to try out the gianthold adventure pack among a few other things, but im not sure if the population here is good enough to actually try it out, since the majority of testing is done from high levels, due to the XP testing, challenge, exc.

Well, a lot can be done on casual and you can bring in a horde of NPC's so yeah, it's doable, solo style.

Meh, I prefer testing in actual groups, to see if its worth doing, if its any fun, exc.

And yes, you get 1,000 points from Sir Poincealot once per day. Wish he was on the live servers, I could sure use some points from him.

What Zaal said ^. Unless there's some sort of Dev event going on, or a new adventure pack has been released, there aren't a whole lot of players on. Everything is pretty much soloing with hirelings. Although, I do get party invites on there occasionally with my lvl 17 Cleric.

Well, it WAS an option that provided you a taste of the content and would allow you to complete, etc...

That said, and since you are F2P, perhaps you round up folk to join you.
Thinking here about you contacting DDOCAST, or the like, to advertise FTP groups on Lammania.
Of course, these forums will work just as well to advertise, since you are reaching more players across all the servers.

No since it's just a preview server I don't really expect it to be so never seems to be enough people on it for testing maybe for premium players since they need to decide if they want to buy a pack but I would hate to take time away from my real playing even if I was premium

Talk some friends into joining you on your pack-explorations, and yeah it'd be great. But Llama's populations is dismal unless there is a special event a'brewing. And even then, people are there for the event and not to make/join groups.

Thanks for the advice everyone. You've saved me from a moderate download wait, and disappointment in joining the Lamannia server. It seems really that, unless I can somehow get more guest passes, I'll have to either make a leap of faith(No pun intended, FvS's.) and buy it in the hopes I like it or play it safe and save my points for something.

i would go to lamania if i could get you and some other people to play group with. I might just go anyway, cause as a favoured soul you can solo a lot of content anyway?

well seems the reason you would use lamania , it would work for you.

even if you go into the area solo, or even with a Hireling, you'll see if it was worth it. or not.
I mean if you don't want to solo it, and see it can be easily soloed and would be way too easy in a team, that you would get bored fast, it'll save you real $.
it's true what has been said, only time you'll find good population is during an event, and that's it, once event is over they go. The events are great fun, heck you may just want to finish that download just so your ready for any of the events

If all you want to do is check out the content of a An adventure pack, it's okay for that, tho some adventures will require more then solo player to complete (Switches and levers). It's not like you will be playing your whole time there, your just there to preview, not get the whole show. well that's how I see it.
I'm one that does not like repeating the same thing too many times, unless I am looking for a certain drop. So I doubt I'll ever run the whole adventure packs on Lamania, specially if I'm just previewing.
If doing anything Soloing kills it totally for you, then your decision to not finish the Download may be best for you.

But I like that suggestion to advertise looking for party to preview Adventure XXX on Lamania, on xx date xx month (and hope the server is up for that date ), and getting a group that way. I think that was an awesome Suggestion
