Looking for GS and early endgame gear advice

OK I'll get right to the point.

I'm running greensteel ingreedients right now with my Water Savant sorc. It's my first char past around level 10 and I'm finding the info out there on endgame gear is extremely confusing and overwhelming. So I want some answers as simple as possible hopefully from experienced sorcs to these questions:

1) what slot should my first GS item be?
2) what mods should I get?
3) what mods that might LOOK appealing to me are bad due to being able to get them in another slot, not being that great for a sorc ect...
4) what are some impotant non-epic, non-GS items I should work on geting to before trying epics?

My biggest concern right now is running the ingredients to craft a GS then finding out 'oops, there was something simple i could have gotten that does a similar thing.' or 'oops, the slot conflicts with something I need even more.'

2) what mods should I get?see above
3) what mods that might LOOK appealing to me are bad due to being able to get them in another slot, not being that great for a sorc ect...Con opp isn't bad, just torc of prince rayium is better. +45 min 2 heavy fort Hit points is another GS worth considering
4) what are some impotant non-epic, non-GS items I should work on geting to before trying epics?[color=red]as a caster your primary concern for epics is your spell dc's so anything that raises your charisma, +7 item, litany of the dead, yugoloth potions (favor), +1/2/3 except (all stack), +2/3/4 Tome, ench, house d pots (turn-ins)

GS Concordant Opposition, Blindness/disease immunity, +300 SP for the goggles slot
GS 45 HP Item with heavy fort (i went with 10 Concentration instead of heavy fort because heavy fort on the epic item) (this might be gloves-bracers-cloak depends on your build-gear layout)

You dont really need anything to start epics actually. Might want to get a Torc, Greenblade from the Demon Queen raid, Bauble from the Weapons shipment from the shavarath quest, yugo pots. Cant remember what else will help you at the moment, ill write it later

((50+100) doubled for sorc) for the goggles slot

^ this, dont be fooled into putting wizardry VI on them, it will be superceeded by archmagi when you get it.

Looks like im doing goggles for sure with some interesting options. I'll start working on the other stuff you all mentioned too.
