    Default Build idea and feedback

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on a build I am creating.

    human monk(dex focus)/cleric/sorc (3, 6, 6) (only thinking up to lvl 15 right now)
prestige's: Radiant Servant and Air Savant
Order class taken: monk, cleric, sorc, cleric, monk, cleric, monk, sorc, cleric, cleric, cleric, sorc, sorc, sorc, sorc

Base states (not worrying about item bonus' etc):
    Str 10
    Dex 15 +1 lvl
    Con 12
    Int 8
    Wis 15 +1 lvl
    Char 16

    Feats:
lvl 1 toughness, dragon mark passage, twf
    lvl 3 empower heal
    lvl 6 Weapon finesse
    lvl 9 Weapon focus bludgeon
    lvl 12 maximize
    lvl 15 extend

    skills:
mainly concentration and diplomacy (as I will be not as combative as a full monk) and UMD with left overs

IF I go to 18, then I would increase my monk so I get shaolin monk prestige.
Il will not be using any tombs and will be in a permadeath guild...so only items found will be used.
    reasons for:
Monk: great physical damage while in robes
cleric: healing ability for self and group
sorc: use of wands, extra sp, spell like ability (shocking grasp) is awesome at close range, range spells and CC

    enhancements:
will entirely be embraced by the above prestige class requirements. I ONLY will be putting points into unrelated enhancements when I cannot increase a required one due to pre-required number of points spent. This will go into things like: racial/class toughness, wand ability increases, etc.

    Feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Forget dex, if you are going mele get str. But yes, forget sorc, go monk/cleric if you want good self heals, or go WF sorc if you want self healing and spells. But yes, forget dex, weap finess only affects your to hit, not damage.. not to mention that im farily sure handwraps arent finessable, dont quote me on that tho.

    Alternate built paths:

    WF Sorc:

    20 Con
    16 CHA

pure 20 sorc. I wouldnt multi class on this one.

    Monk/Cleric:

17/3 is proably your best bet, although Battle clerics are hard to play the higher level you get.

    16 STR
    14 Con
    15 Dex

Unsure if you even want to attempt that on a 28pt build...

If you want a battle cleric id sugest 18/2 Clr/Ftr or 19/1

Using a greataxe/sword, this saves you having to start with DEX for the TWF feats

    16STR
    16Con
    Rest in Wis

this build is going to give you a wider ranger of mele capibilities, without the shortcomings of wider spread stats.
Using Divine Favor/Power you will have high enough to-hit to be a usefull mele, and plenty of healing capiblity to keep yourself and your party up.

    Hope this helps

    Alkirie 40 WF FVS ~Angel of Vengeance~

I've been building oddball permadeath builds since launch and I won't say don't do it, just don't expect to enjoy it if you happen to get to level 10+. Any build will work up to level 10 no matter how bad it is, but you start feeling really useless with a build like this around that level.

    some suggestions:
    • Go monk1/cleric6/monk1 then whatever you want to add, current build takes too long to pick up any of the good stuff.
    • Stats: 13, 16, 14, 11, 12, 12. You will want Power Attack on a Finesse melee build, 10 STR won't cut it for damage. With such a heavy multiclass you won't have any good CC so don't spend so much on WIS/CHA, Enhancements and items will get you what you need for casting.. You'll want more CON to run in wind stance.
    • Replace sorcerer with Wizard and take pale master for zombie form to boost your melee, you are spread too thin.
    • Switch the order for Finesse and Empower Healing, you don't need big heals that early (and don't have the SP for them) and a 10 STR melee doesn't hit much
    • Keep your level-up stats in DEX.
    • drop weapon focus at 9 and take Power Attack
    • I would probably go monk2/wizard6/cleric12
    • Another option that was already suggested was ignore DEX and just go full STR. Just don't try to play like a tank, play like a sneak-attack rogue and go for flanking bonuses on mobs already engaged.

the brave: monk wraps are indeed finessible and are a staple to dex based monk builds...no, it doesnt add to damage...anyone can tell you that.
However, I do hear everyone saying scrap the sorc...and really, only zornochio lays out a good argument and I like the idea of replacing it with wizard for pale master.
I cannot switch weapon finesse with empower healing bc i took monk at lvl 1 and do not have a BAB of 1 by lvl 3...I would if I start with cleric, but then i loose skill points.

Also, am not a fan of cookie cutter builds, so I will most definitely not be building a wf sorc/wiz.
stats in wis and char are not meant for only CC...char will, at very least, grant me more turn undeads, and therefore more divine vitalities/healing, etc...which comes in very handy in a permadeath environment. Wisdom for monk AC and more sp and spell range of cleric.

I appreciate all your advice and will make subtle changes...mainly switching sorc to wiz and switching wf with PA.

I played a drow cleric 17 / 2 monk / 1 fighter to cap with only 8 strength. My starting stats were 8 str, 16 dex, 12 con, 10 int, 16 wis, 16 cha. I put all level ups into wisdom.

I'd suggest that some variation on this might suit your needs quite well. In particular, 8 strength was totally fine to start with as I supplemented my DPS with Divine Might I-III and all of the excellent cleric buffs. Level ups into wisdom gave me an excellent AC and stunning fist DC along with excellent offensive spells.

I'd say the biggest problem with wanting to include arcane levels on your build is that it back ends all of your useful abilities. By the time you get zombie form/air savant I and radiant servant I you'll be level 13-14 which is quite high for a permadeath build which is unlikely to see level 10. Further, there isn't much synergy between zombie form and radiant servant. More or less all of the spells you get access to with wizard or sorcerer levels could be replicated with wands or scrolls with max ranks in UMD and a decent starting charisma. Finally, your ability to heal yourself with cleric levels will be minimal to say the best especially considering the SP you will have to expend keeping yourself buffed.

I'd strongly suggest that you choose to focus on either arcane or divine for your build but not both. Monk splashed casters are among the most survivable builds around and don't have to sacrifice much of their overall spellcasting potential.

If you pick up radiant servant I by level 7 you'll really appreciate just how awesome a maximised, empowered radiant servant burst can be against the hordes of undead in quests like delera's or the bloody crypt. Then, divine power will turn you into melee monster which will tide you over until you get blade barrier (level 12-13) at which point you pretty much win the game.
