I generally make it a rule to negative rep posts that complain about negative rep. They are often there to either farm for positive rep or to try and get those who negative repped them to admit it so they can be reported (as apparently telling someone you negged them is a reportable offense).

    the guys an idiot.

freinds and reputation is vastly more important in a game like this than any one piece of loot. what goes around comes around you know.

just add them to the not freindly list - and next time you have the unfortunate pleasure of grouping with them and you pull something u dont need - 'X is up for roll, 'ruderanger' may not roll due to previous loot selling.'

For the people suggesting that someone could have chimed in and offered a counter offer for the boots, I'd say that they were keeping quiet for a number of reasons.
    1. they might assume if the original owner got no offer, he may put them up for roll
    2. they may have a moral objection to buying loot
    3. regardless of how they feel about buying loot, it could still land them on blacklists of others if they do it so in order to keep their reputation clean, they might not bother with the hassle.

I'm not saying the original owner can't do whatever he wants with the item. It is his loot afterall, but he could have just looted it and said nothing after he got no bites for trade. Nobody would have cared too much about it. Commenting later that the loot was basically trashed is the part that was most rude in my opinion. I personally wouldn't have tried to sell the item and I wouldn't have offered to buy it, but in the end it's his loot and his reputation that may or may not be tarnished because of his actions.

And it was stupid in addition ... who in any case who has red scales to give away doesnt have all the loot he ever need out of a raid like the reaver?
I've heard plenty of people who haven't gotten Madstones after their 40th run. It's kinda brutal.

That said, as far as loot selling - what if someone else really wants to buy your loot? Is it a bad move to sell it to them rather than putting it up for a roll? I've had that happen to me twice recently, and I figure it's not really that bad of a move.

I will start by saying I didn't neg rep you. It seems like you really want to know what it is people didnt like about this post, or at least some people. For me it is the first line about comparing the complaint to starving people or whatever. Nothing in DDO is as bad as starving people, and using that line is belittling as a response to any complaint in this forum. Your comparison is like apples to atom bombs and a bit forum troll-y. Just my opinion.

In regards to the original post perhaps the guy is motivated by greed. 1Red for Madstone boots? Now we know who is putting things on auction for rediculous prices. This is probably the same guy who will take shroud shards even though he doesnt need them and sell them for the 700 plat or whatever it is. Someone greedy always looking to profit probably doesnt like to give away anything as it will flood the market on items he wants to get sucker prices for. Selfish behavior in DDO is as commonplace as Kobolds, nothing new.

I have madstone boots and everything of value I need out of Reavers but still run it sometimes. Its fun to do guild reavers and pike and talk smack etc, fast and easy. Tomes are ok too.

Its sort of like throwing away food cause your not hungry right in front of starving people lol. Its pretty selfish, omg it would bee too much effort to just give it to them, so i will just put it down the incinerator, I mean they dont have any money on them to buy it, so its useless to me. .
actually heath the origin of that comparison was here not in anto_capones post
