Default Lawful Neutral or Lawful Good?

I'm looking to make my first monk and I'm still collecting information. What are the pros and cons to each? Which one is better and why? Thanks for any help.

from the way i understand it, lawful neutral, as you can use axiomatic, anarchic, pure good, w.e mods on your wraps regardless, lawful good is needed for only a few hand wraps like the ones out of deleras.

Also take no damage from one of the alignment based mods ( anarchic or something, not sure which )

I think the big ones are pure evil damage and a negative level from evil items like litany if you choose good over neutral

I personally prefer lawful neutral for monk and neutral whenever possible. Immunity to alignment based damages is probably the biggest benefit to that. The main benefit to choosing a good alignment is the ability to use pure good weapons at low levels. With UMD points used during level up and at character creation though anyone can use them for end game purposes anyways.

    Lawful Neutral:
    Benefits:
    1. Able to use Evil Aligned Items without penelty
    2. Does not take Evil Based Damage

    Cons:
    1. Use of "Of Good" requires UMD of 20
    2. Not able to benefit from any Good Based spells (ie Angel Skin)

    Lawful Good
    Benefits:
    1. Able to use "Of Good" items without UMD
    2. Able to Benefit from Good Based spells (ie Angel Skin)

    Cons:
    1. Takes Evil Based Damage
    2. Takes penelty using Evil Aligned Items

If you are planning to be able to reach the 20 UMD or able to craft a weapon which meets the criteria of the Good Alignment then Lawful Neutral is a good option since later levels will through alot of evil damage around. However, if UMD is not in the cards Lawful Good makes a good option as well.

The good part is this... If you are willing to pay a few TP points, If you find the one you picked is not working for you, you can switch.

Much of what has been posted is true for most classes, but as Helexax correctly notes, handwrap-using monks are not subject to the alignment restrictions on weapons outside of a few rare named wraps like Devotion from Delera's.

Thus, Lawful Neutral is almost always the best alignment for monks.

law neutral is good for when you have that neat stuff at the end game, specifically that trinket thing that puts negatives on you but not as neutral.

However pure good lets you use neat things while you level, for instance the devotion hand wraps from delera's at lv 4. And you can always switch later on for a lil bita tp which is easily farmed through lving with added favor.

Devotion are the only handwraps in game that require you to be Good. They aren't that good that you should build your character's alignment around them, especially with crafting available.
