    Default Tomb of the Tormented...

The other day I see an LFM posted for Tomb of the Tormented. The LFM specifies, "No XP, leet, for favor". Since I really don't like that quest I only ran it on normal when I was at level, and since the LFM is 10-20 and I see several other 20's on board already, I join it with my level 20 sorcerer. I was the last to join.

All is going fine until we get to the room with the traps in it. Then the leader angrily tells me on voice, "Hey, you're a pure sorcerer."

I agree that I am, though I am puzzled as to where he's going with this.

He angrily tells me that "EVERYBODY" knows the last person to join for Tomb of the Tormented has to be able to do the traps in the third room if there aren't any rogues in the party. I told him I had never heard of that and he (and two others in the party as well) said again that EVERYBODY knows that. He said he thought I was a 18/2 sorcerer/rogue or he never would have accepted me.

I have only been playing DDO since the beginning of 2011, but this is the first and only time I've ever heard of this. Is anyone else familiar with this rule that "EVERYBODY" (except me) is supposed to know, or were they full of toro excrement?
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)

Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.

    Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.

You can do it without a rogue. Totally doable, just harder.

If he really wanted a rogue, he should have said so in his LFM.

Leader was a jerk who was more mad at himself for not paying attention so he had to pass the blame instead of manning up to his mistake.

No such rule. If leader wants a rogue, he should ask for one. Just another jerk.

The only rule that "everyone" knows for Tomb of the Tormented (and every other quest in the game) is that the party leader is responsible for deciding who he or she wants to accept into a party.

When you click on an LFM, it says what your class breakdown is and the party leader can click accept or decline.

If the last person in the party "needs" to be a Rogue, then the party leader should have made sure that the party had one.

    Complete rubbish!

You should have just said "i'm the bad yet you accepted a 20 sorc into your grp expecting a rogue????"

Just add him to your friends list with a little note as to why and move on.

While it may be a bit off topic, OP really recall the memory of my latest Tomb of the Tormented solo experience on my bard (with a FvS hireling) at lv 13...

I took 25 minute get everything kill and guide rat to the final section, and then realize I haven't got full ransack xp yet. So I sang all songs I have (Inspire Greatness, Inspire Courage, then Sustaining Song) while stand on top of my rat, then went back to first room to check if I left any breakable behind. 30 secons later while I'm searching first room, I just heard the DM voice told me that my rat is dying, I'm telling myself WT*, go back to 3rd room and check who kill my rat. I found nothing.

Then I sing all 3 song again in top of rat nest, start guiding another rat out of their nest. Then right after my rat approaching first pressure platform, I noticed my rat is almost dying....

You got it, it's the Sustaining Song killing those poor things!

Now back to topic: since the LFM say no XP, so long as they can guide the rat to end, there's no reason to panic.

And... don't sing your sustaining song next to rat

I didn't think Tomb of the Tormented gets run enough for there to be "well-known" rules about it...

The only rule I have about Tomb of the Tormented is to never run it...

1st rat maze --- interesting.... hmmm... Ah! I see how this works...
2nd rat maze --- Oh boy another one? Okay, all right, let's work this out...
3rd rat maze --- ***!! Another freaking maze? I hate this quest..

Cool idea, repeated too many times... Common mistake made by the GMs in the old days... the new dungeons are much much better.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.

Tomb of the Blighted isn't bad at all. I might be biased becase the blighted water doesn't effect Pale Masters, but it's easy.

Anyway, I'd rather run through Blighted (without PM immunity) than Tormented.

I have not heard of this implicit need rogue rule. Would be nice if people mentioned things/paid attention beforehand. I suppose it could be deduced based on the nature of quest and it being elite, blah blah. But you know what they say about assumptions.

Definately the party leader's responsibility, not yours. He has control of the accept/decline option.
    Sarlona - The Silent Accord
    Choyce (10th life, Rogue/Ranger splash) - Zedekia (20 Favored Soul, 2nd life)
Vallheru (20 Monk, 2nd life) - Julle (20 Spellsinger Bard)
    Nimblum (20 Rogue) - Xzanthus (20 Wizard)

Tell the party leader that there's this new thing the kids are doing called, "Limiting the LFM to the class selection they want in the party and making sure to accept people that fit their criteria."

Its not your fault. When someone puts a pug together they should assume that whoever joins their LFM has no frickin' clue what they are doing and if they really need something its on the star's shoulders to let it be known from the beginning.

And thus the reason I left WoW all those years ago, and came to DDO where I could play with myself and nobody bothered me. I can solo pretty much everything through level 15 on hard, and after that, it just takes longer to hit 20 as solo is the only drawback I have had on this game in nearly 3 years.

Group leader failed the read check when they accepted you into the group.
