Since the Cannith Casting revamp, dividing by ML rather than by plat value should be a lot easier.
Consolidating the brokers in the marketplace makes sense, but it still won't solve the issue of noone really selling much to Brokers, due to the fact it's more useful to burn for crafting.
People are generally happier to sell good gear on the Auction House, as that means they get the bulk of the money, rather than getting a fraction of it, as happens when selling at a Broker.

Marketplace and Eveningstar usually last a while, because they are central hubs that people pass through for many reasons not connected to the brokers. It's rare to see multiple instances of them though. I can remember when it was commonplace for Marketplace instance 3 to be permanent, with 4 and 5 more transiently available.
Ah, I think you are right. I had forgotten just how short it was. +1

I do remember players in groups around the vendor scrolling through the lists as you sold. Ah the old days.

I was able to procure several nice weapons from the Deneith broker because of him being there, and AFAIK all they asked in return was donating Sibs. I miss those days too.

Would have been nice if they had explained why they were asking for Sibs though. I remember leaving the broker many times being very confused!

I think this deserves its own thread. Its important for new players and unguilded players to have access to some decent targeted gear and maybe it won't solve the issue of crunching for crafting but if all the vendors are continuously empty it certainly sends the wrong message.

Perhaps the code that empties vendors after a set time can be changed to keep the vendor inventory for a longer period?

Yes, it does deserve its own thread. Just checked the vendor in House D, nothing there again. I think the CC dissolving issue is a lot bigger problem, but this would be a good start. I'd like to get some feedback on the idea of dissolved items appearing in broker inventory as well.

They reset when the airship instance resets, IE 5 minutes after nobody's on it. The accessory vendor is the only one I know of which actually does generate loot - I check it almost every time I go to the ship for low-level clickies (I've gotten a few shield clickies that way, amongst others).

Exclamation Confused on Pawnbroker : (

Am I misreading what Steelstar stated then?

If an area (like the Marketplace) has multiple open Instances, the Pawnbrokers in each will likely have different shop inventories.
If you see items on a Pawnbroker at all, they were sold recently by another player.

I read the “ (including through server restarts) ” as meaning when SSG does the weekly server restart these Pawnbrokers lose any items they my have.

    Is this not correct?

Then what does Steelstar mean by “ instance the Pawnbroker is in collapses ” is that 5min timer thing btolson is talking about?

If so, then I ask Steelstar to update his statement "It stays there until someone buys it" to include just what is the time frame of an “ instance the Pawnbroker is in collapses ” means.
    Again maybe I am misreading.

Not having much experience in DDO if this 5min “collapses” is true then I feel very luckily when I am able to get an item off a Pawnbroker and now I will need to check them more then I have been.

This interpretation is correct, apologies for the ambiguous wording. Whenever the instance collapses, including due to server restarts, Pawnbrokers lose their collected items as they are only ever stored on that instance's copy of the NPC.

The fact that some changes are necessary is not diminished by the fact that other necessary changes have not happened yet.

I'm sure this is off topic for this thread as has been your thing. No need to sabotage another post when you can create your own.

Has the Gift Shop in Ataraxia always been around? I usually went were to avoid bothering with price range, she seemed to buy just everything. By the way, I used to buy a lot of useful items there on my first monk.

Wow, I had no idea that pawn broker was there.

On topic, my experience has been that the brokers in the marketplace always have tons of items for sale. For example, the highest level brokers are usually stuffed to the gills with items that could have been crunched up for 10+ essences each. It's the out of the way ones in house K and D that are hit or miss. I suspect that lot of players either don't know about them or simply can't be bothered to run out to them. I only discovered the shortcut from the guild airship to the house K armor brokers myself about a month ago.

If all the brokers were together in the marketplace they would likely get used a lot more. Though I would miss visiting the shop that seemingly specializes in magic weapons ...and carpets.
