    Question ToD and FVS

    A little doubt here!
I flagged last night my FVS for ToD.
Now here's the problem... I assume I need a pair of anchoring boots to avoid Horoth dismiss attack.
    But I really need em?
I've got all the stuffs to craft another pair of those so no problem there eventually but I was wondering... Assuming I will just heal party and dps a bit with DP and my shoulder-cannon why I need to craft 'em? If horoth doesn't engage me in battle directly I should be safe from his attack, wouldn't I?
Or there's the chance that my DPS will overcome on tank aggro and horoth could focus on me?

(I've the same doubt with my sorc )

Horoth's banishment is an AOE with a lot of range. And that is why you need the boots, or something to negate the attack. It does not strictly affect whomever he has aggro on.

To be perfectly safe, yes, you do need the boots. Blasphemy has a very wide radius, at least as far as your healing and scroll range is. It also has a stun effect, which is why many groups use a Light Monk casting Grasp of the Earth dragon on the healers.

You CAN get by with using Mantle of the Worldshaper, Pale Lavendar Ioun Stones, or a Scarab of Spell Absorption, but remember these deplete.

Horoths banishment just about fills the entire room,so not having aggro won't help you I'm afraid. If you have the ingredients I advise making some boots.Regardless of your will save anyone can roll a one,and going a healer down against Horoth would usually mean a wipe in most groups.

A small snippet of advice too, don't activate your cannon when entering part 3....Horoth really dosen't like them

I have a little question here. I've used mantle before, on my fvs, to get around the banish. It did work for a while. But then, a few weeks ago, I suddenly rolled a save versus banish - while wearing the mantle, and while there were still 5 charges left.
After that, I got a little scared and set out to get the boots for him, so I haven't tried since.

Has anyone else has issues with the mantle and banish, or was it just a fluke?

Its not just the banish that this is bugged for. Ive had other spell effects hit me while still having mantle charges left.

Ah, I see. Yikes. I only really used it for banish in ToD, so I didn't notice that. Well, I guess it's boot time for every healer I have I want in there :/

You roll a save for every spell as normal with the mantle, it only uses charges if you fail your save and would be affected by a spell.

Really? Well, I'll have to check this out myself a bit before I trust my characters in tod with just a mantle. My skills at rolling a 1 on banish are legendary.

Another snippet of advice: Don't have a FvS with the AoV aura get part 3 started.

Horoth doesn't like that, and will start casting fireballs and sunbursts on the party...lots of fun on elite

I remember this happening a while back, right after U9 hit, before I realized that someone else should start it... I didn't know what the heck was going on and half the party was dead before horoth even came down.

Personally I love having the Boots along with a Pale lav, that way I am still immune to the stun effect of the blasphemy, allowing me to heal without interruption. It helps alot when your party doesnt grab a light monk

Did that once after U9 (I didn't know), and all of a sudden our party got bombard with flash and incendiary grenades. No casualty but fun to watch. Try it at least once with peoples you know, pug won't like it.

I do think that making the boots for your FvS is a good idea, but I'll also suggest wearing the Mantle in the Horoth fight anyway. Even if you have a "better" cloak to wear, the Mantle will keep you from being stunned and that's a Good Thing(tm).
