Epic Red Dragonscale Armour

So I'm about to start at the beginning of crafting my RDS armour, i.e buying and farming for 25 scales from tor, before i start getting more reds; i currently have 11.

I was just wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice as to if it's easier to buy scales on the AH or post that i need some in the forums. Quite literally all the plat i will be using will be coming from laarge devil scales, large stones, and GS blanks.

As im only level 14 on my TR atm i havent run tor yet, so dont know if ive got one of those 'lucky' characters or not lol... we will see i guess

Currently i estimate that to buy all 25 scales it would cost me 5 million plat, or the equivelent in assets, so not that much tbh.

For the reds i will be running VON with other people who can't be bothered to craft red scale armour, thus hopefully giving me their scales.

I know that this is a process that is most likely going to take 3-4 months; and i just wondered if anyone might have some advice.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would you give you their scales considering reds are valuable currency even if you have no interest in the armor. I've seen it happen exactly once and thought the person doing it was a fool.

Shard of the Red Dragon is rather rare too and you need 20 Epic Dungeon Tokens, do you have those?

Base armor is the easiest part.

Red Dragon Scales aren't bound and highly sought after. That's why they function as a currency in DDI like Large Devil Scales. It's unlikely that someone not from your guild will give you their scales. And most players running epic velah have at least one toon on their account that could use a red dragonscale armor.

How do you get epic dungeon tokens, I believe this is what was also needed for the lvl 20 cloak of shadows for the Halloween event and I had TR'd at the wrong time. I have TR'd a total of four times and have yet to run anything epic so I am clueless, but with Druid finally out soon I will have "my class" and I too need to start prepping for to turn my blue into a red, or farm a cheap black and keep the blue. I should also ask about shard of the red dragon, I know some items take a scroll (guessing this falls under the lines of acting like a scroll) and some "other things" to upgrade. > <

Epic tokens are very easy to come by just run epic challenges get about 6000, trade in for tokens can do that in about 1hour, i have been doing it just to slot up my items lol, I am sure a nerf for this is coming soon so might be a good idea to get it done now...

Depends on which red armor you're making so I'll list both here for you:

Eberron Red/Old Red Armor: Shard of the red dragon, 20 Flawless Red Dragonscales, 20 dungeon tokens, Base scale armor (Can be any kind black/blue/white) from Tor, the base version of the tor armor determines what red armor you get. (Black fullplate becomes Red fullplate) This one is crafted at the epic altar in the Twelve.

Cormyian Red/New Red Armor 20 Flawless Red Dragon Scales, 3 Commendations of Heroism, 15 Commendations of 1 Kind, 15 Commendations of other kind. The commendations you use determines what armor you get (15 purple dragonknight and 15 war wizard commendations make the fullplate version) You need 375 purple dragonknight favor before you're able to make this at the purple dragonknight vendor.

How are you getting 100 parts/min in epic challenges?

I consider a very good rate to be 45-50 parts/min, so I'd love to know the trick.
