No essences today

Did any one else notice that essences aren't dropping today? My normal group was getting 2 stacks of 10-15 essences yesterday and today we are getting zero. Any ideas?

Strange... I finished a session about on hour ago with three different characters on two servers (Sarlona and Thelanis) and picked up 6 greaters of various types. Low level characters, but I still found them. Even got one out of a key chest.

Yeah, it is weird, yesterday I was getting them from almost every chest, and today I only picked some up out of a single chest so far.

Summary: 10.2 set every chest to drop essences, even key/sigil-only (non-ransackable) chests. Today they edited a setting on the live servers that turned that off. Not sure what essences are still dropping, since Turbine hasn't said anything about all this at all.

Yeah I knew that ninja fix was coming fast.....I'm fine with them changing the key chests...that was obviously not WAI....but they could have left the other drop rates alone...considering how much harder they made crafting with this update.

Perhaps they couldn't? I'm surprised essences are dropping at all, since I expected the quick-fix to be disabling essence drops in chests entirely.

Hmmm. Seeing what it takes to get past level 30ish, I am about ready to abandon crafting, but the rate of drop on essences was making me wonder if I could simply grind potential shards to level up.

Oh well. There are better drops than what I can craft, and crafting items have unreasonable level requirements to use them anyway.

Crafted weapons do, the non-weapon items are often a few levels lower ML than random. Enjoying my crafted ML1 Feather Falling Ring.

I wonder if doing server hot fixes like that is related? Could be I guess.

My problem is that I didn't exploit when it was available. I threw away a lot of plat and got my crafting level just in the 30s.

It's pretty typical with this game that you jump on something early, and exploit it before Turbine makes it impossible for those who come later to accomplish anything good. Then again, since it's still "in beta," crafting might yet be something normal folks can do.

Bound Feather Falling Shard is Elemental 47, so you would have a 50% chance at Elemental 37. Not too hard to achieve in my opinion.

But yes, anything much higher than that will be practically impossible for normal users to get to.

What level? Noticed that level 1-5 quests = no essences. level 6+ were giving them to me. Seems ujnlikely that this is your complaint, but thought I'd toss that out there.

I know I am a day late, but I ran Lord of Eyes last night about 9 pm Eastern time, and there were essences in every chest.

On unrelated note, hirelings refused to heal anyone but their owners, so I had a fun time trying to keep two other people alive. As a ranger. Spamming CSW when manyshot is on cooldown makes for... interesting... play!

I mentioned this to my guildies last night. Before I was getting beaucoup essences all over the place. Last night I got a grand total or 10 from a decently large number of chests over the course of a few hours.

Total, once again the tyranical extremist ways of Turbine dealing with things comes to surface.

I'll admit getting Greaters in just about every chest was broken.......but "fixing" it so once again they barely show at all and on top of the fact they are never in end lists is absurd.

I wonder if Turbine is petitioning all English dictionaries to change the current meaning of balance to their version instead. I think the new head Dev is a Daelkyr personally
