    Default enough is enough

well it's been about a week now since reinstalling ddo on my new computer - as mentioned in previous posts over the last week, it worked once and since, i have been unable to get any further than the "opening main form" part of the launcher. have tried everything suggested in other posts. have sent a support request and in return received the instructions that i should do the whole complicated uninstall/reinstall of the .net framework. so far i reckon i've wasted at least 15 hours messing about, waiting, and in general not having a good time - nothing has worked. have been a long term ddo'er and am very disappointed and frustrated that it just will not work - i have no idea how it worked the first night i installed it and the following day it doesn't. one suggestion (amongst many) led me to a lotro forum post regarding the .net framework reinstallation - complicated to say the least. maybe i'm just not technically minded enough????

anyhow, i thought others might enjoy this following bit of wisdom that i cut and pasted from the abovementioned forum. at the moment i am in agreeance with this writer.... to have to go through so much nonsense to get it working and still it doesn't....
    i give up......

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Tried installing LOTRO from free-to-play direct download.
Hard coding requirements for some ancient version of .Net to get LOTRO running is already short-sighted and poor development practice.
The fact that I am forced to jump through hoops to address a development problem adds insult to injury. After wasting 4 fours that I will never get back, I have still not been successful in getting the game to run.
Turbine, you are clearly very aware of this problem as the topic is stickied to the top of your technical support forum.
I, for one, will not jump through further hoops and risk trashing my system to get LOTRO running, much as I would love to play your otherwise excellent (or so the reviews tell me) game. I wonder how many people are in the same camp as me? Based on my google searches and discussions discovered, I imagine it’s a good number. You’ve got my email address. Let me know when you’ve got a patch available to address this issue.
Unfortunately for both of us, in the meantime, the money (and time) that I had ear-marked to spend here will be spent elsewhere.
    Good luck!"

    here, here friend!!!!

Default SICK AND TIRED OF THE 2.0 .NET Framework ERROR!!!

I am having the same problem with my DDO game. I have reinstalled .NET Framework OVER AND OVER and when the game starts, it says I need version 2 (86) which isn't even FOR 64bit systems, and then when I tr4y installing another version I GET THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. DDO can't or WON'T update the .NET to whatever it needs.

I DEMAND this get fixed with an update WITHOUT ME HAVING TO JUMP THROUGH A SINGLE OTHER HOOP or else I am demanding my money back from my account that I have spent. AND I MEAN IT!

I already opened a help ticket to no avail, so SOMEONE better fix Dungeons&Dragons Online or else EVERYONE is quitting!!! STARTING WITH US.

The problem isn't our PC's people, the programmers just don't know how to make things compatible!!!
Contact me @ my email address linked to this account Mr. Support Manager, because if this problem doesn't 'magically' disappear, then I WILL get my money back I've spent on the account (mini transactions.)

Have you tried running TurbineInvoker.exe as administrator? The reason I ask is that .Net 2.0 as a pre-req for the game usually is just that the launcher can't flag it as being available or can't find the installed versions 32bit files (via the registry) The 64bit 2.0 install contains both the 32bit version as well as 64bit so even if an application (such as DDO) is looking for the 32bit version to be installed it still finds it because the 64bit contains the 32bit versions. If the game launcher isn't allowed to check (permissions issue, hence the running of invoker as admin to test) it tries to because it hasn't been able to flag the pre-req as being avail or completed. Alternately if the operating systems registry isn't reporting 2.0 as being installed correctly, or doesn't let programs see the 32bit versions then the game thinks its 'not there' and attempts to install it.

I would follow up by replying to your support ticket email as detailed in the message that was sent, that reopens the ticket for a tech to respond and help with troubleshooting. If you didn't get the email message make sure you log into your email providers website to check the spam/bulk mail folders because they might have flagged the message as that, and they won't let external email programs or cell phones download or view those messages.

NOTE: The Customer Support forums are best for Player-to-Player help, for more direct and official support, please submit a ticket to the appropriate team via the form here.

After contacting support, log into your email webpage to add noreply@turbine.com and accountsupport@turbine.com to their "safe senders" list and your contacts list/address book. Be sure to check Spam/Junk Mail folders as well since most email providers do not let external email programs or cell phones download mail flagged this way.

Read the EULA you agreed to; you can't demand anything. If you aren't willing--it isn't complicated to follow instructions and you aren't the first Joe who's had to do this--to troubleshoot/fix per instructions then you have a few options:

Pay someone else to fix it.
    Buy a mac.
    Buy a console for gaming.

Windows and its thousands of programs don't always work right out of the box. Its a royal pain in the tukas but its the 'embarrassment of riches' of PC hardware/software variety/availability.

Besides; I think you are barking up the wrong tree: Turbine didn't develop .NET; your OS or hardware seems borked. Had you spent your ranting time reporting all you had done and what the indications were, in detail, you would have gotten more help. Honey > Vinegar.
