Terminology clarification please

Hi,

Cleric Life Magic 1 gives a 10% boost to healing and negative energy spells.
Cleric Smiting 1 gives a 10% boost to light and alignment based spells( good, evil, lawful, chaotic).

I guess i am a little confused as to what qualifies as a negative spell and even more so on alignment spells.

Would someone please clarify.

Pull up cleric from the compendium or wiki.

Scroll down to the spells region.

Select both cure light wounds and inflict light wounds. (so you have a comparison)

You will see as their description "positive" and "negative" energy.

The same can be seen in the very few alignment spells.

It mostly comes down to learning the spells and reading their descriptions. That is all.

Now, you can go a bit further if you are willing to pull up some Pen and Paper refferances which can make that hunt a bit easier.

Will actually list spell school and alignment. (Evocation{chaos}) for example.
