Favored Soul

I am back on DDO after quite along absence. I noticed the favored soul and decided to try it our. I like the fighting and some healing aspect. Anyways now I need to get serious on a good build, any help would be thankful.
I was thinking human or maybe drow past this I am lost. I plan to be here for the long haul now that I have come back.

If you like the fighting and healing aspect of the favored soul I would suggest the warforged favored soul approach. Its quite popular and for good reasons. Its fairly easy to pull off, gives good melee dps, good healing*, great DR at cap, and spells that attack a low/no save dc (blade barrier, divine punishment are bread and butter). Its also fairly low cost to gear out given you use a greatsword. I'd suggest getting ardor clickies that you can click and switch out instead of an always on devotion item.

With that type of build the emphasis is on strength and con with level ups into strength. Give yourself just enough cha to get yourself casting capable with items. Remember favored souls spell points and spell levels come from cha, but spell DC comes from wisdom. Also, given your immense spell point pool its ok to have charisma be a low to medium stat. Power attack, improved crit slashing are suggested feats, but don't neglect things like quicken and maximize and healing line enhancements.

* Remember the healing penalty on warforged doesnt apply to other members of your party, this should go without saying but for some reason people bring it up
