I've been thinking of a twf barb myself. for flavor/fun I think i'm going to go with heavy picks.
Still haven't decided if I'm going WF or Halforc.

either would go max str with 15 dex which means either 17 con for WF or 15con for HO.

At this time I'm leaning more to WF but that will change 3 times in the next 2 days before I roll up the toon as it has a couple of times already. I will say I have leaned to WF more frequently than HO since I first thought of it so I'll likely end up going that route.
Move along , Nothing to see here

Warforged is a reasonable alternative to half-orc and half-elf. The immunities are often a good reason to go that route.

    STR: 18 + 5 stat increase + 7 item + 3 exceptional + 4 tome = 37 before ship buffs, rages, etc. For many players +4 tome is unrealistic, sub a +3 tome for 36. If you don't have a +3 tome then it is +2 tome for 35.

Similar concerns about +7 item and +3 exceptional. If you don't have these then you are looking at another 4 point decrease in STR -- now just 31 unbuffed.

Before you settle on 18 STR determine what added things you have that will boost those STR numbers. It could be that 18 is the right number for you. But, you might find that 17 makes better sense.

This is especially true with warforged and half-orcs who will gain +2 CON from racial enhancements and up to +3 con from class enhancements. 15 + 5 enhancements + 7 item + 4 tome = 31. Again, the tome might be too much and +3 or +2 might be more realistic. Exceptional CON isn't included but might be depending on your gear. As with STR you should plan out the gear to go with the starting number.

All of that is important because it could leave you with as many as 5 build points at character creation. This might figure into other stats that could benefit obscure areas of the build without impacting the others at all.

It is easy to presume max STR but that isn't always the best choice. It can be a very bad choice if it leaves you adjusting stats when leveling. Leveling stat increases only affect a single stat. Conserved build points can affect 2 or more stats.

While I fully expect most players to just bump STR and deal with it all later, the best builds deal with it all up front by having a concise plan for each stat from character creation to L20 fully geared.

Yeah, not sure what I was thinking, the splash is clearly better for TWF DPS.
