    Default Hireling Cleric Default Distance

So, I've had a lot of hireling clerics die (poor souls) because they decided that the best place for them to be would be...2 feet away from the barbarian/fighter/monk/bard who's busy killing a fleet of mobs. For some reason, these clerics think that they have quicken on, or that their concentration skill is high enough, or that it really IS a good idea to stand in the middle of the fight for healing. I understand that we want to encourage mass heals, but can we get these clerics to learn a bit about tactical personal placement? You know, set a default distance from the host player to 20-30 feet away unless called specifically to the spot, or when doing a mass heal? Many clerical hirelings will appreciate the distance lessons.

Not just clerics, but any hireling not chosen for their ability to stand toe-to-toe with mobs.

What? Wizards and Sorcs and Bards aren't able to go toe-to-toe with a horde of mobs? Sacrilege!

But who will I blame when I die if my cleric hireling acts like he has a brain!!

Might just be my imagination, but it seems like the AI has gotten worse lately, the other night I was running fear factory and told him to stay put at the entrance to a room in defensive mode, where I was standing, and instead he decided he had a pressing need to run across the room. Very irritating. (Funny.......but irritating!)

    But /signed on default distance!

Also, could we have the cleric hirelings not running ahead of the team alerting the whole dungeon, and then staying around to shot searing light at a pack of orthons for 30 seconds after everyone else has retreated - and least when they have been set to defensive mode? Yes Ayron, I'm talking about you...

I'd settle for "heal only" mode too!

    Dumb hirlings..

    Standing in trap...ding
Standing in acid fog...ding, rezzes while still in fog.. ding... still wont cast resist on themselves...
Standing next to you while you melee mob, and dont heal your or themselves.....ding...
Still standing next to you, you turn the mob so hirling is behind mob.. hirling moves in between you and mob...ding...
Hirling runs off to attack inactive mob down hallway while active mobs are engaged. click the come to me command and they come back through a spinning blade trap instead of the way they went.... ding..

Dimsiss Hirling...."you're fired"... not worth the xp loss, heals and rez clickies wasted trying to keep the hirling alive...

Please fix passive to stay out of the way 10 feet behind me and just heal and buff. dont attack, dont aggro, resist yourself, fom and dw yourself.. seems strange to have to use umd, wands, clickies to buff a cleric/fvs hirling that should have these as basic self buffs..,

and maybe get the hirlings their own guild ship or something...

Screw it, lets just take the hirelings out of the game. Let's face it, nobody is ever going to be happy with them. Not ever.

    To play Devil's advocate............

They are at least better than nothing, and they work at least some of the time.
