Did you ever try out Champions Online? While the combat is fairly standard MMO, it did have a few odd spots. Power Armor and pets based characters play differently to a degree.

I'll be popping my head back into CO here after they get the hideouts a bit more fleshed out.

What is this, the 90s? Origin and Lucas Arts need to get with the program.

So, uh, no. I'll be sticking with DDO where
    * there is no entry fee
    * monthly dues are optional -- or I can simply buy points! Whoa... novel concept.
    * there is f2p
    * there are wonderful variables in all classes
    * character appearance is nicely customizable

I really like Star Wars, but SWTOR is, at this point, appearing to be l-aaaaame. If I really want my fix (again) I'll just kick up SWKotOR (I or II).
Correction: The first list of arbiter nomenclature describes the initial 2007 Turbine Release: Lord of the Rings Online. So no, this is not 1990.

Too bad Stargate Worlds never really saw the light of day, I would have tried it.

No interest in the bleeding edge of a new game.
Once upon a time, I was part of a team, and we saved some children. That was long ago and far away, and, yes, I am that old.

Saying that I'm a huge fan of the Star Wars genre is like saying, "Meh, that pyramid is sorta big." But the main thing that has always, and will always, make or break a game for me is gameplay and control. I've seen some games in the past that literally made me drool. I tried them and didn't like the way the game controls worked so off to my "probably never play it again shelf/closet". Now after playing ddo for a while I can add one more to the list, combat. It's gotta be fun. I like the excitement of first person shooters but with a sword!

So, if the combat is as sad as it appears to be, I can say that I'll be staying right here. On the other hand, if they get enough complaints about a sucky combat system, and they decide to fix it, I'll say my goodbyes to ddo and whip out a nice shiny lightsaber. And no, you can't have my stuff.

Star Wars is supposed to have 200 hours of gameplay initially and even though they say per class I'd suppose the content still is somewhat similar. The people who run every quest/raid hundred times a piece are usually the ones who are in a position to play several hours a day. They have chewed through all of Star Wars' content in a month. Then what? You back running the same old stuff over and over again.

The issue that there are people who run content far faster than developers could possibly develop it is something all MMORPGs share in common. It's simply not a good argument since you will encounter the situation here and there. The only difference is that there currently has novelty.

I am both, a big Star Wars and big DnD fan. To me it is the combat system of Star Wars that broke the deal. I am just not willing to pay 60 bucks and a monthly fee to effectively play a WoW clone with a Star Wars skin. I had high hopes for the game. It just doesn't live up to the expectations. So, guess bad news are I will stick around as local DDO fanboi.

No matter what side of the argument you are on, you always find people on your side that you wish were on the other.

Actually, that is the very *least* motivation to play TOR, at least for me. Brian Daley hooked me on Smugglers in ways GL can't possibly imagine.

I am happy to say I am apart of that over 1.8 million preorders so far for SW:ToR. Don't care for the CE, but I did preorder the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Last time I was lured away from DDO was when Age Of Conan came out and we got Monks at the same time.

This time it's TOR and I'm guessing we might be getting a new class around the same time they release it...

No thanks; I like Star Wars a bit, but honestly not that much. And until I've got a steady income (a bit difficult as a college student, even if I live in the same town) I don't want to get into anything with a monthly payment again anyway. Nope, DDO's the MMO for me, at the moment.

Now, when Guild Wars 2 is finally finished... Well, let's just say I'm looking forward to playing a gun-wielding plant-person

    Did try CoH/V

Superheros are not my Forte, and DCU made me cry. I was getting tired of Gorilla Grodd.

Bioware is pretty much awesome in anything they do. Add starwars, add more players and I've already pre ordered.

Doesn't mean I'll stop playing DDO, but I'm definitely gonna spend some time in the Old Republic.

Are we speak'n the same language there? At least I have a reference to try to educate myself further as to the least motivation to play TOR. You're for ToR?

Nope, I'm going to wait and hang up my sword for a Heavy Bolter or a Chainsword.
