6/12 months ViP cards

When I was logging into LotRO I saw that they have 12 ViP cards for $99.99. Which is awesome for those who cannot/willnot use a CC.

First: When is DDO getting them?

TWo: (for both games) How about a 6 month card? For those that $100 might betoo much.

Good question. I do not play LoTR, but II have often wondered why there were no 1 month cards for DDO.

That was how I did my monthly on another MMO I played for 4 years, and I Think I could afford ten bucks a month at wally world for unlimited access, I would just grab that while I was getting my toilet paper, shaving cream, and underwear.

I think this is doable. Especially for those who don't have CCs. Would make an awesome Christmas present!

For a long time they did used to sell 60 day cards. I know I picked up a lot of them on EBAY for far less than face cost back in the dark days... (spent more on shipping than the 20 cards...)

As far as I know those stopped being made at some point, perhaps not enough product movement in the retail stores where they were being sold right next to the boxed DDO game CD's back then before Online downloading was as practical.

The real question would be would the demand really be enough to justify the product line and effort involved. While I know some people want the options, how many really do? You can buy TP with cards and I know I have had a few of those gifted me along the way.

Honestly? I have no clue. But I do see alot of people saying they would go ViP if they didn't have to use the CC. Which is fine. But now there would be a choice. And maybe more subs because of it.

It's just an idea. Not a bad one, not sure if it is a feasible one in regards to DDO.

The conumdrum arises now with the various subscription levels ranging from fully F2P, Premium and VIP and their respective demographics.

My assumption would be that a good portion of the players in the F2P pool would not turn down a Playtime card, but would never buy one for themselves. That many of those players cannot afford it, or choose to not afford it.

That those who are Premium are their by choice, having used a one time expenditure of funds on TP to acquire what they want, and have chosen to forego sub fees. Once committed to that path, unlikely to be interested in changing.

VIP's are most likely already able to afford the costs, and have CC's already. We know from past discussions that at least in the old VIP category of players that the age demographic is older than many other MMO's, and as such has much higher access on average to purchasing power.

So I see the niche really being that subset of players who have the desire for a SUB, but not the mechanism to purchase it online via CC or other means. It would be interesting to hear about their (Turbine) thoughts on this, but I suspect that is the type of info I would get very very old waiting to hear back on.....
