Default With the removal of shard and crafted item deconstruction exp...

With the removal of shard and crafted item deconstruction experience I certainly hope that you have enough recipes in the system that do not require limited quantity special ingredients (collectables, greensteel ingredients, pure eberron shards, etc...) so as to allow a viable leveling experience path to the max crafting level for all essence types in all crafting schools.

Otherwise you just rewarded the "power-crafters" who were the impetus for this change and punished the average or casual crafter.

Furthermore, there should be much more consideration put into the experience gain and crafting level mechanics in regard to resource expense/requirements. You cannot realistically expect to force players to use recipes that require 10+ greater and 30+ lesser essences per combination for paultry, and repeat-based dwindling, experience gains when higher levels of crafting take thousands of exp per level and still gain player acceptance of the crafting system.

My original thoughts on revamping the crafting experience process:

The changes identified in the 10.2 release notes have some serious far reaching implications. I hope you have fully analyzed the impacts and have taken steps to address them appropriately.

I was willing to grind out a crafter. With the recent changes I'll just go back to giving my essences to the couple people I know who will craft for me.

I just tried crafting again, hadn't tried it since the first "version" on lamma.

Aside from issues with the UI, I have no idea how I am going to get enough essences on live to prograss much farther (I made it to arcane level 60, with a lot of free-lamma-TP purchases.)

Just to get a 60% chance at what, 100-ish XP at level 59 I need a couple hundred lessers and 20-40 greaters. Even with constant decon on live that's a lot of items. On lamma, unless I buy em at the AH I'm pretty much stopped.

What am I missing, or is crafting just a group project? How do people with millions of plat do it, do they just buy all the items in the AH and deconstruct?

At least on live if I can't craft there will be someone to buy my items on the AH. I'd like to have crafted though, just for the variety and accomplishment of it.

I guess this is one of the underlying issues.
I wonder how many people managed to get in before the metaphorical curfew.

    ...

I'm still unsure crafting should be character based.
It makes little sense to me - and it's completely unrelated to the letter and the spirit of DnD rules.
Again, seems like a system lifted from another game and adapted to DDO.

    ...

I am almost glad they closed the crafting hall down for a while.
I resumed questing, carefree, without being too concerned about disjointing every single bit of loot I got.

As it was, it forced me to mail gear to my crafter - not even shared bank can realistically keep up - and switch char every few hours to clear mail.

    It felt like a chore.
And I refrained myself from further shard crafting - after finding myself full of broken shards I couldn't craft or deconstruct.
If they really want us to farm raids for rare essences, some revamping of the crafting system is in order.

    ...

    To devs:

Please, turn crafting experience into crafting credits.
This way every character in the same guild, party, account, can contribute in building crafting levels - just like guild member can contribute towards renown.

Please, make the crafting/disjointing process less time consuming and mind numbing.
Too much time spent micro-managing loot, essences, shards.

Please, turn the disjoint machines into automatised vendors, so we can toss in loot for essences/crafting credits, the same way we turn in loot for gold, or motes in seasonal events for rewards.

I'm curious why they removed the Plat on decon that makes it wholly inaccessible to new/casual players again.

You realize it's only for shards, and crafted items, right?

The loot that players pull from chests still gives plat.

I don't know about plat but xp from it was nice feature. I would like to have it back. It makes you loose less when you get essences and you don't feel you lost so much cause you could sell that on your haggler.
Since DDO offers nothing for long time players, only wants to milk money by raising prices and difficulty to force ppl to grind for items instead of play and have fun, also new content is designed only for grind, Im off.
Good Luck. CU in Guild Wars 1 and soon 2.
