A for fun thread

Lets pretend they raised the level cap to 24 (not saying they will or wishing for it, just a 'what if'). What would you believe your play style's best build would be? Lets say max level for any one class is 20 as a level increase to 24 would likely be a larger promotion to multiclass toons. Lets not only hear the build but the reason why you'd take that route.

I personally would go with elven monk 18/ranger 6. Mostly due with tier 4 stance, decent bonuses to 2 favored enemies (evil outsiders and likely constructs as another) As well as getting tempest 1/ninja spy 3(when it releases...this is a dream thread after all lol.) The hp would be moderate (mid 500s maybe low 600.) But fort and reflex saves would both be base +14, will +11 (not counting the epic save progression which for lvl 24 I think is +2 to all saves.)

I think a 12 monk/12 fighter build would be pretty beastly, combining the benefits of Godhand with Touch of Death. All the +hit and high base damage of Godhand combined with the juicyness of Touch of Death, yum.

My melee would go Ranger12/Fighter12; probably half-orc.

And it would be pretty awesome.

I'd also expect to see some FvS18/Fighter6 twf melee builds.

I was thinking the same thing.
In fact I typed a reply and and doubled back to check the thread and saw your post. How sweet would that be 20sorc/2mnk/2ftr I look forward to the day.
Even if the lvl cap was raised to 21 would be a huge improvement.. imp.evasion/tier II pre on melee.

20 sorc can do pretty well with 2 levels of paladin (for a massive boost to saves) and 2 levels of rogue (for full points in UMD, and evasion to go with the big saves)

if i made a melee toon it would probably be 20 barb/2 fighter/2 rogue

the rogue levels for UMD, to make barb much more self sufficient (28 levels of UMD is a bit nicer than 24 at lvl 20), and fighter levels for the feats.

Have a xploiter similar atm. He's a 1st life goof-off build 12clr/6rgr/2rog.. fun to play, just as a jack of trades, not great at any one thing.

think it would have to be a 2xtr due to stat requirements but:
I'd go with my shrouded avenging dark monk.
12 wiz (vampire or wraith) 9 monk and just for kicks 3 pally.

20 Pally with 4 more Pally. Because the best thing I mix with Pally is more Pally. It may not sound original or funky. But as I look at the idea of a level cap raise, which hopefully would involve a second capstone, and maybe an added tier to the Prestige Enhancements.: I envision that a Double Capstone, Tier IV KotC, Pally would make the blood of daemons run cold.

Farflame - 17/2/1 cleric/fighter/rogue
Would make him 20/2/2.
I am assuming i would still get the cleric 'capstone' i would gain more spell slots/sp and evasion

Darnack 18/2 fighter/barb
Mmmm taking 18/6 would give me the PrE for barb, but he is TWF so wouldn't be worth it
maybe 20/2/2 with Monk as third class for evasion (or even rogue for evasion+sneak)

not sure, having a rogue splash would help me get traps, fighter/barb for the additional HP. this one i would have the most trouble with

My existing (first) char is Human Rgr11/Rog4/Wiz5. He cannot take full AA lvls.

five years old...many changes in the game since I made him.

I still like the build. But I think a Half Elf version for ful AA lvls would be better.
However his current version can get Epic traps (with boost...I need to make a GS item so I don't need the skil boost) SA damage doubles his non-crit damage. Can UMD heal scrolls 100% with the right gear equiped. And self casts any buffs he could ever want.

Fun build for me.

Rog6 would give Assassin I (if I can fit in the enhancements somehow)(more SA damage...and more skill points)(I have lofty goals with skill points...cant get enough )
And Wiz 7 gives self cast FireShield and DDoor. Maybe Stoneskin. (have to look at how many lvl4 spells I get)

I just keep making choices on him one cap increase at a time, and he keeps evolving.
Has stayed fun for five years.

If we ever get to 60, I'll go 20/20/20.

Have no idea. But currently capstones only require 20lvls in a class.
Not part of real D&D rules, so no official guidance.... up to Turbine.

In theory Epic class lvls would get some nice abilities. Although I remember looking t the Epic rule books and thinking that I would stop at lvl 20 in most classes. (as did most Deities)

Yeah, after level 20 classes only get bonus feats every so many levels their level based abilities (sneak attack, monk unarmed ac, monk speed) are the only things that steadily increase. Though a straight 24 fighter would get a total of 4 extra feats (22, 24 for class, 21, 24 normal leveling) Casters only benefit by taking the epic feats needed for more spell slots/10th level + spells but don't get any new spell slots after 20.

I'd imagine that you would still get cap stone in any class you have 20 levels in and spend 72 (I think) ap as those are the only requirements I know of right off top of my head for the cap stones.

I'd imagine they'd give us more ap as we leveled (an extra 16 points if I calculated right) would be nice for a lot of these builds.

though I was thinking of a sheer flavor build that'd be self sufficent and vastly hated by shroud running people...a build that'd likely only get into private guild runs for raids but fun to solo with. 12fvs/12mnk. 2d6 unarmed, tier 3 stances, shoulder cannon, divine buffs, healing, decent ac (mid 60s) good hp/decent enough sp good stunning fist dc, touch of death, 3d6sneak attack(6d6 if half elf)

of course i would prefer 24 sorc to some multiclass

4 more caster level for damage output, 4 more spell pen, 4 levels of big sp gains, and level 10 spells =D
