    Default GEOB Shards

Now that they've turned on 75-100:

    GEOB Require:
    21 G. Good
    192 L. Good
    5 Purified Ebb. Essences
    1 LDS
    1 Demon's Blood

...ha. I can't wait until I get into a ToD w/a Barb that doesn't have boots, and doesn't have a GS HP item, but links us his awesome crafted Greataxe... right before he gets banished.

...wow. Well, all that going GEOB instead of a pair of GLOBs and GCOBs do for you is save you inventory slots. Don't know of any straight evil enemies that are that important... Maybe the new U11 raid boss? Ha.

For me, the only character that the cost makes a difference to is my Shintao monk. (Since he can already bypass Law, Cold Iron and Silver.)

Still, it is pretty pathetic that there is yet another crafting level that I have to depend on effing caster recipes to get through. It’s not like Cannith crafting offers a lot of recipe choices to level up with.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

A lot of the caster recipes also require the Purified Ebb. Shards now, as well. I saw stuff like Major Lores made that list.

So yeah. Unbound crafting to level is gonna be the way to go.

Boot ings are a really bad choice, IMO. I have three booted characters, and slowly trying for my 4th pair. The grind is so mindnumbing that getting my new characters into TOD isn't even something I plan on. And now they're used for crafting? I could hardly even afford buying them before, they'll certainly vanish from AH now.

LDS and boot ingredient are a bad choice... because they come from an Adventure Pack, thus setting us ( VIPs and powergamers ) further apart from them ( casuals and F2P/Premium ).

While everybody will gripe on the rarity of such items, my gripe is with the fact that a system designed to allow casual players to obtain some nice items require components that are only obtained by players that either :
    - spent money on a subscription to have free access to the areas where said components drops.
    - spent money on buying access to said areas.
    - spent hard earned favor to get access to said areas.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...

You tried to make this point in the GLOB thread as well, but again:

Why would Cannith Crafting be fully accessible to F2P? I mean, it's not like the rest of the game is fully accessible to them. So why this? I see crafting like an extension of the rest of the F2P model. They can do a lot of the early stuff without investing in the game, but the later stuff is going to either A) require intense favor farming by them so they can buy the packs, or B) require them to spend real $$ to buy the packs. It's just another incentive Turbine provides people to spend actual $$ on the game, and that's good.

Well that was the idea. Make the point.

All the answers to said points I've seen so far ( here and in the other threads ) have some validity.
Now I can't be in the Game Designer head and guess where they are headed and if those weapons will be
useful in more than where they are for now.

I was just being the Devil's Advocate.
As I've stated in one of the threads, I don't care much, I'm VIP.
I can ( and has ) farmed the Shroud for scales, and so on... so I'm not even a casual player ( unless you count people spending 2/4H everyday IG casual ).

So you say that someone who contributes nothing and play for free should get the same as someone why pays either by paying a sub or by buying TP's to use in shop?

I dont agree with you one bit. I pay a subscription, I bloody well expect to get something for my money that someone who does not pay will not get. If anything I think Turbine should give VIP's/TP buyers more advantage over free players, not less.

And your point is way off anyways, as both large scales and demons blood can be found on the AH every day. Besides, why would someone who does not buy packs where DR breakers are needed worry about making these shards?

Both ingredients are unbound and available on the AH. I don't see the problem with that, any fp2 player can use the AH.

Well, being as GEOB is argueably the best and most popular shard to craft, I don't find it too unreasonable to ask for an ingredient that will make them a bit more difficult to make. Prior to 10.1 or 10.2, it was incredibly easy to make a hoyl burst of GEOB as long as you got the appropriate level. Instead of making a MinII that requires 5 or 6 scales, you can make a far superior version of it using a single scale and a blood. Sounds ok to me.

They keep preaching over and over again that crafting is supposed to be an alternative to raiding to be able to make good weapons or gear. A couple recipes FORCE you to raid. That doesn't sound ok to me. That sounds like they are going back on their word and hiding their true intentions like they do every time they bring an update to the game. Can't say I'm not surprised, but I am getting tired of the blatant self contradiction.

It's bad enough crafting is one of the worst grinds in the game because of how ******** it gets to level up at high end without throwing pure money at it (which btw, it was stated that crafting wasn't meant to be just another grind, yet it is). Now you're forced to grind raids and other crappy quests in order to make gear for yourself as an alternative to raiding? Raiding as an alternative to raiding. Now that I think about it, yeah that sounds ok to me too.

What recipes force you to raid?

He probably is thinking LDS and FRS rescipies which are cost prohibitive for many people other than by raiding.

Technically you are right though, no raiding is required now.

The outsider bane shards still require devil scales, which you can only get in shroud. Thus, you have to raid to get them. Granted, you can BUY them from players, but for the nonraiding population in the game who has that much plat just laying around?

The same for the dragon banes. The only REASONABLE way to get the blood is von 6 unless they drop in tor now. Otherwise you have to tr multiple times or make new chars just for the blood.

You're right. Heaven forbid Against the DEMON Queen, which has the very word in it's name, have a chance at dropping Demon's Blood.

Sorry to offend you by supporting such a ridiculous idea.

The Blood of Dragons drop in Tor, and Mired in Kobolds. Maybe Prey if you kill the dragons? I don't know.

Re: Large Scales. Shroud, ToD Flagging Quests, Devil Assault Elite/Epic, ToD part 3 chests.

Or, some would say the AH. Because yanno, that's what a new crafter has - 400k plat left over every time they want to make less than 1/4th of what is necessary to make a single weapon.

While using unbound items is far more acceptable than bound items or rare loot for crafting purposes, using the items that are already the most expensive and most in demand only hurts newer players trying to get those items for their original intended purpose.

Boot ingredient, large scales, large stones, flawless red scales, and probably a few other named and EXTREMELY valuable items should not be part of the crafting system.

They did a good job reaching a happy medium with multiple crafting options on the new Holy Burst. They should take a similar look at this rescipe.

    Why?

I'd argue the fact that they're valuable is the reason they should be part of the crafting system.

The price point is too high. Also, specifically in the case of boot ingredients, it gets rid of the current community spirit where it isn't that unusual for someone to offer up their boot ingredients for a roll. This will take some of those out of circulation and make it that much tougher for casual players to flag for an already difficult to flag raid.

Slightly less valuable but still valuable items are fine. For example, rather than LDS, large chains or bones (moderately valuable now, this would actually add value to those items and overall improve the Shroud loot picture). Rather than boot blood, dragon blood (which is both easier to get and has a store option), or maybe a favor based item like the new SF tokens that The Twelve can give out (thier favor is a bit...lackluster).
