I want that shield

There is a pic at the beginning of the load screen that shows a dragon breathing fire on a Palidine and he is using his shield(the correct way) to block all of the flames. I want a shield that can fully block fire, or say acid or maybe electricity. Why dont we have that available? I would love to see a Shield that is made from say a red dragon scaled shield(full resist against fire) or a green dragon scale shield that will fully block acid.

Would this shield be to over powered? I dont think so!

Give another option for somthing like Velah instead of rushing behind the pilar, you could get behind the shield user and back into the fight a bit quicker.

Could be fun trying to time out your blocking for some of the attacks too.

Considering Savants don't even have full elemental immunity (or even absorption, just a dinky 15 inherent), don't expect to see outright immunity to even a single element on an item anytime soon.

I would like to see this as well but it might be a bit overpowered but cool never the less. There are magical shields in PnP that could be suitable for DDO.

*Element Warding
The armor absorbs the first 50 points of fire damage per round that the wearer would normally take (similar to the resist energy spell). Add fire absorption ?% to make it more viable.

One of my favorite named shields: Bulwark of the Great Dragon

This +6 heavy shield bears the image of a dragon’s head. Three times per day, the bearer of the shield can command it to belch forth a breath weapon of the appropriate type. The range of this breath weapon is 80 feet (if a line) or 40 feet (if a cone). Regardless of the type, the breath weapon deals 20d6 points of damage. In addition, the shield provides the bearer with resistance 50 to the energy type that matches its breath weapon.

As powerful as they would be, I would make them BoA on a level 12ish quest, and epic upgradable at 20th. And for DEV's SAKE, make them look AWESOME, and not generic or hideous that we are forced to cover them with a armor kit later.

How about, greater fire resistance with a protect from fire clicky on it? After that, epic upgrade it to 50% fire resistance with a fire absorbtion ability, so that only the greatest fire sources(lava or red dragons breath) would harm the wielder. That way, they would have a great amount of protection, but not immune from the source.
It would work the same for acid pools and breath, electric barriers and breath, and cold and poison breath.

I'm sure it needs to be looked into, created, nerfed, retooled, nerfed again, and then it should be good to go.

I think it'd be fine withthe shield as quest item. The dwarf in part 5 gives it to you before you go into the plane of night to give to one person it has 3 charges each charge absorbs all of velah's breath weapon but must be equipped. Equiper takes a -10% melee alacrity penalty as a drawback.

Well, maybe if they had the scale armorer that makes red scale armor make the shield as well. Just make it look like overlapping scales on the shield. Cost is say 15 red dragon scales. It would only protect from fire and it would have stats like this. +5 superior fire protection. Gives a 75% fire protection.

It might be blocking the direct flames, but there is nothing in the picture to indicate it is fully blocking the HEAT. I predict the Pally will smell like bacon after that blast.

You can craft (well you COULD, before) 33% fire absorption onto a shield. That's a start.
