Problem is people come in to try the game (alot of kids this time of year) and are all excited and play a ton until the newness wears off, then they re-roll when they have a clue and go to another guild on the new toon, and never log in on the old messed up one in your big guild.

Just hard to tell who is going to turn into dead weight, and who isn't until they do in fact become a drain on renown.

I would think that it is harder to maintain consistently high periods of play as the number of members increases. I don't know the actual numbers, so maybe there is a distinct advantage for being a small guild, but even if everything were equally weighted, the current results wouldn't surprise me.

I have to say I really like your idea.

    I would vote for this.

If you mean that it's easier for slackers/pikers to hide in a large guild, then I agree.

Each person in a small guild has to earn more renown each day in order to keep the guild level steady than each person in a large guild would have to do, however. It's just easier to get a small group of good people together than it is to get a large group of good people together.

Maybe there should be plateaus for Renown. Once you breach a certain level you don't really drop too far.

Say once you've reach 50 decay won't drop you below 45 or something.

Once you've breached 75 decay won't take you down past 60

Once you've hit 100 you can't be dropped below 75

Then again I'm just starting to play around with a small guild... very very small and don't play too much anyway. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about Just seems to me that renown shouldn't get kicked way down because real life catches up with you.

I find punishment for living to be counter to making me want to stay with a game...
