    Default Sad state of pugs

I normally avoid putting up Lfms, and today a reaffirmation as to why.

Lfm reads: tr/vet preferred, hear voice and follow instrucions or dont apply.

party gets four, we go in. lfm changed to in progress.

caged troll #2 ready, and healer joins, I say dont pull the lever wait till healer gets in. when barb Ihave been talking with all along pulls it anyhow,

my response" dude ***? i said not to",

healer says" lemme guess someone pulled it"

, " yep he did,, what the hell is your problem"(me to barb) , no response,

"well, f/o guys we can redo it or go to gwylans" we f/o

I boot the barb, and say to rest, " well that problem is overwith"

"man that was low", " yer a jerk", drop drop drop.

so I'm a jerk for booting someone that cant/wont listen, and tryiung to make up the favor /xp for the rest of the group?

You put a "tr/vet" lfm up for.. caged trolls?
    I'm not suprised.

I personally go nowhere near "tr/vet" lfms. Not for a long time has "tr" represented any degree of competance, and 'vet' in most cases is simply a label of arrogance. The combined effect is not a magnet to the best players. I imagine many practice the same.

    +1.

I will not join any lfm that says vet tr. It usually is a sign of a gimp that needs to be carried thru a quest and relying on me to do so for him.
If the toon is named after a beer 17 of them are mine & 1 more not named after a beer (the black sheep of the family). Beware there are a few beer imposters out there. Unless the toon has been "Banned From All Guilds" it's a fake Beer_Dude. Fake Beer in your group leaves a nasty taste.

If I see a TR/vet LFM for a quest that I'm interested in running, but I don't recognise the leader, I check the Who Panel for a guild tag. There are only a handful of guild tags that will convince me to join that run, but usually I follow the following advice:

As for a TR/vet run of Caged Trolls.... sorry dude, but you were asking for it, and you have just proven the points listed above.

Absolutely. Being a TR or Vet does not guarantee a good player. Sometimes it means a player that has seen it all before and has lost interest in the parts of the game so they care less and dont put in a respectable level of effort. I dont want those players in my groups.
My demands are simple. Ducks, penguins and tortoises as pets. I'll buy hats and bow-ties for them all.

Come on, any well experienced PUGer knows that 95-99% of the people who join PUGs don't read the LFM.
    ... a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
    Seeking the bubble reputation,
    Even in the dragon's mouth.

So true. No matter what my LFM says, pugs still apply for my party.

Ok, it's Obviously been a while since I did that quest, but, what does pulling "the lever" do?

Pulling the second lever (the one where the second troll is) completes the quest.

    "TR/Vet preferred" for Caged Trolls...

i thought pulling the second lever just releases the troll, you have to kill troll to finish quest, no?

zerg was nowhere in that lfm, tr/vet from someonelike me means no newbs/children, want people who have some idea of how and what to do, and will be posted as such from here on in .The part that seriously peeved me was the not listening, and then being so numb-headed as to actually have an attitude to me for calling the jackass for his actions.

I would have done the same thing to the jerk who cant wait 20 seconds, though I would not have run that quest looking for vets. Pretty much all free content under level 8 is reserved for the really ******** noobs. If you want to run with vets, just post a p2p quest. There are plenty of them to get you through level 10.

just because someone is a tr doesnt mean they are going to be a good player, some of the worst players ive come accross have been tr's.

Ive never joined a tr vet only lfm cause I dont meet the requirements but from what ive heard from others those groups have been amongst the worst they have ever joined.

I honestly think the calculus on whether to join a group with a Vet/TR description is slightly more complex.

All low-level groups save those for Bloody Crypt, Gwynlan's, and Tear will be terrifying ordeals of incompetence and hilarity regardless of description. Not saying I won't join them regardless.

For mid-high level groups, I find:
"Vet/TR preferred" is, in my experience, a pretty reliable zerg.
"Vet/TR only" rings some warning bells,
"TR ONLY" is something i steer hundreds of miles clear of. My MyDDOing the posters currently has a 2/3 rate of a non-TR being the host.

Re: the OP. I sympathize. Low-level pugs are weird. Way more kids / people who the game simply isn't for.
    Khyber: Aggrim (Completionist!)
In Von 3 the breakables in the Troll Ambassador optional room are slow to get to and unnecessary for ransack.

I once got an invite for a "TR/Vet" group.
I /tell back to the leader: "oh, I'm sorry, this toon is not a tr and I'm not a vet".
Leader: "do you know the quest?".
    Me: "yes, I do.".
    Leader: "Then you're a vet!".

I always thought a vet is someone who played this game for more than 1-2 years...

    I've never thought about it.
But what if I have vet status, but decided to start from lvl 1 for fun/using +1 tome at lvl 3. Am I welcome in that group?
