    Default Client Crashing

For the last couple of months, DDO tends to crash fairly often. There have been times when I can go a few hours with no crashes, and then time like tonight where it crashed 3 times in twenty minutes. I'd like to avoid a reinstall, and I was wondering if maybe it's something else that I'm missing.

Ok, so I did a reinstall, still crashed twice in 20 minutes. I have no idea what the problem could be, but nothing else crashes the system.

Looking at my errors and dxdiag, it seemed that a faulting video driver was crashing the game, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the newest video driver. I got through an entire TS run with no problems, but at the end of a Feast of Famine run it crashed again.

    Here's the newest error:

Just to see what if any affect there is try putting it on 'bare minimum' settings (below) and running under that.

    - Options > Graphics > Graphics Quality = Very Low
    - Options > Graphics > Graphics Hardware = DX9 (If on 10 or 11 currently)
    - Options > Audio > "Mute Game Sounds" enabled
    - Options > Troubleshoot > Engine Speed > Very Low

Exit and restart the game client (so it saves and then applies those settings) and come back in to test. Let me know what you find.

I tested that configuration last night with no crashes, but I also wasn't on for very long. I'll see what happens this weekend when I have more time.

I assume that as long as it remains stable, the next step will be to turn them back on/up one at a time and see which one breaks it.

That was going to be my next suggestion yes, I know its a bit of an involved process since alot of changes require a client restart to be used but it can help to narrow down any specific ones or combination of them that is lending itself to the crashing.

Let me know what you find but also submit a tech support request if you haven't as well, they might catch anything I miss.

I had no problems last night, and with multiple GH runs and some time in the Orchard I think it's stable. I'm going to turn the sound back on tonight, since I need that for effective grouping.

I seemed to have no problems with the sound being on tonight. Any suggestions on which to try next?

I've been running under directX 9 and "detect optimal settings" and things have been running stable. Earlier I was using directX 10, and I had landscape and object draw distances set to "ultra high".

Have you tried increasing each setting individually to isolate crashes to one of them?

(I am working on this same problem; I ran all settings at max and switching to DX9 alone seems to be a work-around; I'm trying DX10 now)
