I guess Efficacy clickies are a bit cheaper than Potency, but neither is exactly hard to come by.

Overall, OP, sounds like you're casting too many things. Try to get by with just Blade Barrier and see how it goes. All that other stuff is probably not needed. Thin out the herd, then continue on. Let your lantern pick off the stragglers.
Thank you, I also was not aware that I had to kite through BB, I kind of thought that it was the whole circle, not just the circumferance that did damage.

gather EVERYTHİNG that u can see. then just cast a blade barrier and run.
the only spells u need at low-mid levels are blade barrier and a heal spell.

They only take damage when passing into or out of the blades (ddowiki has a good explanation of it). This includes when it's first cast - if you're surrounded by 10 bad guys, they all take damage when it appears, and depending on the mobs, you can wipe out a bunch of them that first shot. Then, time to start running in circles just outside it, they'll pass into and out of the blades multiple times until they're dead.

I usualy try to gather up a few mobs then I BB and Holy smite. If there are too many then I'll sound burst, then comet fall. I only use searing light when I'm shooting down a creep at range.
The issue here is spell selection. Don't bother with Holy Smite or Sound Burst. They do woeful damage, but still eat up the entire SP "boost" from metamagics.

Gather up more than a few (15-20 is good...more if that's feasible and you can move through the dungeon alert) for blade barrier. Its spell efficiency goes way way up when there are more monsters around. There's no such thing as "too many" when it comes to blade barrier kiting.

When BB doesn't work is for archers and casters who aren't inclined to move through the blades. That's what divine punishment, destruction, and/or a couple of weapons are for.

Here's a barrier vs a large group of high HP monsters....against level 14 targets, you will not need that many barriers. The video is a bit old, from pre-U9, when epic monster half was halved, and so was barrier duration. Since that's the only fight I was doing on that blue bar, I could afford to be a bit ...prolifigate in my SP consumption. Watch at 2:45 on the video where I start edge kiting him. This is something you VERY seldomly need to do (almost no monsters live long enough to need it), but it illustrates how the barrier hits as stuff moves through it.
