Default Being able to lock in your +4 tome on a char

Okay here is my rationale and/or thought.

Alot of people have acquired +4 tomes; moreover these very same people hold onto them becuase they are unsure if they want to TR. Most people simply do not TR once they read a +4 tome and feel pigeonheld.

here me out, it is just a thought, agree/disagree, no matter I just wanted to throw this out there.

What if Turbine offered some form of carry-over spell into your next life that allows you to retain the +4 tome stat? :moreover, make it extremely costly via turbine points and make it dissapate when you achive the level requirement for a +4 tome. That way if you decide to TR again, you would have to re-purchase the same spell(item) in order to preserve your +4 tome again.

    1. This obviously would net Turbine cash for the purchase making it only available via Store.
    2. Give those people who already sacrificed their Chars who have eaten them a costly way of preserving those tomes.

Of course the tome would not take effect until the required level has been achieved and of course this is only for +4 tomes; all other tomes would be erased.

I do not really care one way or the other but I thought making an expensive option for those few would truly keep them in shape for Tring.

    your thoughts?

How many people even have +4 tomes? In all the years I have been playing, I have seen like 2 drop. Heck, I have a hard time getting +3 tomes...I have only gotten 3 of those myself. Two of them being con tomes on the same guy

I only have one... and it's crazy that it sits in my bank, never to be used...

    Because things change...

I had thought about using it, because I feel that TRing past the first TR is too much grind...

And then Turbine made some changes to exp in U11, so maybe double+ TRing won't be so bad, so now I'm glad I haven't used it... Because now I'll probably TR once or twice more...

But will I ever use it? Probably not until I get a duplicate.

It's just silly that it sits there in my bank.

I have two +4 tomes on one of my characters and she may never nom either of them. She is en-route to completionist, and the devs have already stated that they will release another class this year, and may tackle druids next year, meaning she will lose her completionist feat and have to TR again. Given the choice between the +4 tome and the completionist feat, I'm going to choose the feat, since it's +2 to all the stats, not just +2 to one stat (vs a +2 tome that is). So those tomes will sit in my bank possibly forever in the current state of the game.

That there is the real problem...

If nothing else, they should let completionists keep their tomes.

I just think that you shouldn't lose your completionist feat if they add another class. If you LR a completionist, sure, but don't lose it automatically.

The completionist feat should work like that barbarian enhancement that they don't offer anymore, but some still have.

I like the idea. I don't like paying for it, however there needs to be an incentive for Turbine to do this. It's a luxury to keep tomes so since TP are usually used for luxuries (shared bank, extra characters, mana pots, etc) and since I get 500 Turbine points for being VIP anyway I will sign this post.

I am not sure, but I believe you have to urchase Astral Diamonds, dont you? (sans finding the occasional one from loot). The rarety of Astral Diamonds and making a comparable caost analysis could make this possible. That avoids TP then

I think they should add a recipe to the stone of change that allows you to convert any bound or unbound tome into an "eternal" bound to character tome of the same quality. You could use this eternal tome as many times as you wish (obviously non-stacking with itself) so you could have the tome for any of your future lives but never transfer it to anyone else.

I like this idea. I like it a lot. Make it take a heart of wood (lesser, greater, +1-3, I don't care).

Probably have this happen automatically for all tomes would be fair...

I understand everyones sentiment about this working across the board for all tomes. However, +4 tomes are pretty much the holy grail of tomes atm. +3 can be earned/found via raids and 20th completions moresoe then +4. +2 drop like candy in comparison to +3 & +4 and can be bought via turbine. im not bothering with +1's

As such, while I won't argue with anyones position as to it working for all tomes, I think a +4 is rare enough to quantify its own special keepsake ability.

I thought about this a little more and think this would be a perfect way for tomes to work:

All Tomes become Bound To Character on Use but have infinite uses. If it makes coding any easier, make them trinkets you can equip and Bound to Character on Equip (this is risky as you can easily 'accidentally' equip and unbound tome).

This has no negative effect and makes the whole LR/GR/TR process more consistent and much more TR friendly

This I like, except for the bank space I will have to allocate to keep these through each life..

It would still better than it is today. As it is, we might potentially keep multiple +3/+4 tomes for each stat in the bank without using them at all.

At least this way, I would have no reason to loot the 2nd +3/+4 tome once I already had one, and would offer it up for roll.

    My perfect idea:

You eat a tome, and it becomes permanently attached to your character and does not destroy upon using.

If you eat a new tome with a bigger plus, it over-rides the tome previously used and destroys it, then the new tome becomes permanently attached to that character.

The tome only gets applied once the character reaches the proper level to actually use it.

With this idea, they keep the idea of having to keep using tomes, but people who obtain +4 tomes are able to keep them safely.

It shouldn't be hard to implement, just create a tome variable in each stat that holds the highest tome used.

+4 tomes are some of the rarest things you can get on a character. Who in their right mind would use one and then TR!?

TRing should let us keep our tomes. It should be that simple.

I've had two +4 tomes for my MAIN stats for months now sitting in the bank. I won't TR after eating them and I won't eat them unless I know for sure I won't TR. Given the fact that completionist would require you to TR every time a new class comes out, it makes no sense for me to have to get a +4 tome each time a new class is out.

There should not be any store item or anything fancy, just TR and have your tomes applied as you level up (same with LR and GR)
