Default Sell +3/4 Tomes in the DDO Store and Past Lives

I think the DDO Store ought to sell +3 and +4 tomes as well as Past Life Tokens.

    Regarding +3/4 Tomes:

Turbine has already placed +2 tomes in the store, which used to be valuable in game items. There has also been the introduction of ship buffs and countless other non DnD buffs implemented into the game. I don't think that adding the ability for players to get +1 to a given/all stat modifiers is game breaking or even game changing. There is currently a way to get these items in game so it is not going to be a case where people "have to purchase" them.

    Regarding Past Lives:

Sell "Improved" True Hearts of Wood that allow players to True Reincarnate their toons using the first life experience table. Allow players to purchase one of these hearts with 50 epic dungeon tokens. Current XP requirements were poorly thought out (especially for 3rd Life + toons) and I think that this would make TRing more accesible to the masses.

please.. whatever you do don't give them more ideas how to
get more cash from us :P

adding +3 and +4 tomes to the cashshop defeats the purpose
of running raids for a big part..

why raid and hope for a 0.1% drop if you can just go to target
get a cashcard and buy it in the cashshop.

with this kind of thing planned you just stay in the market buy
the ocasional +3 or +4 tomes for 50 bucks and then stare
half an hour at your screen at that +1 gain in abilities and
eventually get bored of it and log off..

Why not raid loot as well? And level 20 auto level? And additional feats?

This is a really bad idea that will just let people buy their characters

    Thumbs down

No. I have a TR on the completionist journey, an I've enjoyed every minute of it. Being able to buy +3/+4 tomes is just silly...they are somewhat rare and should stay that way.

this is a totally good idea! why should people play the game anyway? i demand the ability to buy raid completions, guild levels, and epic items too. I also think there should be a 200$ option "completely twink my toon so i'll stop playing".

Well, at least you you said something in addition to "No."

I've been playing since Head Start - over 5.5 years. In that time I've pulled ONE +4 tome (Con) and maybe five +3 tomes. So if there's anyone who should be indignant over such an "easy button" it should be ME.

Guess what? I'm not indignant over this suggestion.

Honestly, a +1 to Hit and to Damage or +20 more hitpoints isn't going to make a whole hell of a lot of difference really.

I do agree that it would seem like it would lessen some incentive to run certain raids but so what? Just make another toon and run those raids again and again for the Raid Loot. Rinse and Repeat. We're all doing that anyway, aren't we?

When +3's are no longer raid exclusive, but start dropping in random loot boxes in high level quests, then I'm ok with them in the store. Same for +4's eventually when +5's become top tier raid loot. As long as it's "raid only" it should stay out of the store. On a similar note, get the +3's out of the crafting hall Turbine. They have no business there.

    Sorry Phresh, but:

/not signed. Too much Pay2Win in this game already.

Tomes aren't the main issue I have though. As much as I'd love to just get the past lives done, there should be a reward for that type of grind. I can agree that the XP requirements are stupid, but there should be some kind of handicap in place, or completionist would be too easy to achieve.

One game that I've seem get it right is Kingdom of Loathing. It's an older, browser based game.

The "TR mechanic" there was a "timer of sorts, that let you only pull a few items from your tr cache per day.

Take a look at it of you want. I'd much prefer that kind of system myself.

I'm in the same boat as you, having pulled one +4 tome (last night in ToD actually heehee) and a couple +3s and if they sold +3 and +4 tomes in the store I'd be really angry.

It's not the balance, it's the accomplishment of being that lucky. If I finally pull a +4 tome, only to have someone tell me "Meh, I bought six yesterday with the trust fund my parents left me" I'd probably quit playing.

I hear ya but here's the thing - being lucky isn't really an accomplishment.

Getting the Completionist feat is an accomplishment. Therfore I would be totally against store-bought past lives.
