So now with this new patch, to make it fair Devs, we need
+3 tomes to drop in epic chests as normal loot,
and be able to change shroud ingredients 2:1 into large devil scales

greater dragon bane - 1 flawless dragonshard and 5 blood of dragons

This is a terrible call, in my opinion. This requires premium players to purchase certain adventure packs in order to get the necessary favor. Also, a lot of the packs that give silver flame favor aren't worth getting if you're on a budget (I'm looking at you: Catacombs, Necropolis I, II, and III).
Maybe they are trying to increase the desirability of some less-desirable adventure packs? If so, this is a terrible way to do it. This will breed frustration, since players will not be doing this content for fun, but rather to get the favor needed to craft an item so they can go have fun doing the stuff they wanted to run in the first place.
TL;DR bad move.
Sounds like a nail in the crafting coffin.
Now will they do the smart thing and undo what they've done, or continue to nail the coffin shut?
Time will tell. DOOOOOOOOOOOOM! And this time.........I MEAN IT! lol
The nice thing is now I can stop levelling my crafting and just go back to selling my stuff. Should help my plat balance.
Uh yeah, why?
+1 and +2 tomes can get you the items you need. As can astral diamonds, S/M/L eberron dragonshards, and epic dungeon tokens.
People seem to be fixated on the +3 tomes for some reason.
Yes. There appears to be some delusion that people will start hoarding and looting +3 tomes for the sole purpose of gathering purified dragonshards. While I'm sure a few players will do this, the majority of the DDO population will not.
Despite evidence to the contrary (clear from reading the forums), most of the DDO population are actually reasonable people.
Cheers,
Kernal
I shall take the first step, I am a Hoarder... to a certain extent. I keep all tomes that fall under my name, and I will not apologize for it. Unless it's a guild run and a guildy needs for their main stat.

In my months of raiding on my Cleric's life, I've pulled:
1 +3 STR (BtA) - kept since it's BtA. It was from Epic DQ.
4 +3 DEX (BtC) - put all four up for roll.
2 +3 INT (BtC) - put both up for roll. One was wasted by the winner recalling out without looting it.
3 +3 WIS (BtC) - kept and used one, traded one in-chest for a Vile Blasphemy, put the other up for roll.
Now, though, I am going to be a lot more particular about putting these up for roll. I strongly oppose people wasting +2 or +3 tomes for this crafting system, especially when it takes away an item that a newer player who DOESN'T have any way besides the pathetically low rates of tomes and their 20th lists that they won't reach until 2-3 months down the road.
Partially because of crafting, and partially because of other "complaints", I will now put tomes, and other rare and high demand loot (Chattering Ring, SoS, Torc, etc) up for roll only to those who can use the items on their current life. I will probably ask the winner for verification of a few things, and may MyDDO them to make sure they can make use of it.
If nobody can use it on their current life, I will put it up for TR purposes, and I will ask specifics about your plan.
I'd rather loot it myself than support destroying one in order to craft.
