Need advice with EVON6

So here is my story…..

I was running EVON6 yesterday with my bard, we zone in, and buff and I lead to the fire base. Everything goes fine, we prep djinny, then DD out to the home base. Once I am on the home base I begin to rebuff (heal up with scroll to save mana, cast fire shield, another displacement, then switching back to heal scroll in case ill need to heal myself or others quickly). While I am doing all this, which does not take that long, I see members of the party already running to the ice base. Panicking I am realizing that I am not in front of them so I begin to run after them. Unfortunately for me to outrun a hasted monk and the barbarian ahead of me is the mission impossible, so I fail to arrive to the ice base first, which already looks like a big mess (melees take tons of dmg from angry mobs, healers are losing their mana trying to keep party alive), so I hit fascinate song. I managed to fascinate only 2 mobs because the other 2 are getting hit by party members (I assume survival instinct kicked in, when melees arrived to unfascinated base and started hitting mobs that were hitting them…idk), so I hit another fascinate. In meanwhile I realize that the party is already moving to the air base…..so I give up on finishing song and run again. The story repeats itself, except now I see people wondering why mobs are not fascinated (party chat: “fascinate air”, I suspect that this statement would be more rude but fortunately for me when people in the party hear my female voice over the chat they tend to avoid using bad language). So I hit the song, without much of the hope that this will help, remembering what happened in the ice base. Needless to say, I did not arrive first to the fire base to complete the circle either, fortunately all 4 elementals were still fascinated from my first time been there so fire goes smooth….Except that ice and air now need help because they have problems with their mobs…. I run back to the air base to fascinate res and heal, however the ice is dead and healers are out of mana so party decides there is no point to go on. I DD out and recall out.

I hope my story does not sound that I blame melee for what happened. I just want to learn from your experiences and my mistakes what I, as a bard, can do to make EVON6 smoother for everyone. So here are my questions to you, bards: what am I doing wrong? Do you double fascinate when you run EVON? What do you do with mobs that did not get fascinated? What you do if you do not arrive to the base first? How do you even manage to arrive to the base first? How do you control the mobs that are all over the place running after the melee? Do you have any other tips that you don’t mind sharing that helps you in EVON6?

what is your DC? if your DC isnt high enough, its not going to work from the get go.

a toon with evasion runs first with the bard following. everyone else trails behind giving the bard room to get everything fascinated. the evasion toon grabs all the aggro on the base, and pulls everything into the far right corner of the base and blocks. bard runs up behind and fascinates. all the melees need to make sure that they arent doing anything to attack fascinated mobs. prep the dijinn. then you move to the next base and do that same thing.

generally you keep one or two toons each on base 1 and 2 that hide out in the safe spot so they dont get blasted by the dijinn. then once the dijinn is going down on base 3, everyone jumps out and takes down their dijinns and pillars. then DD back and resong for velah.

I am a pure drow bard with max charisma, +2 tome and +15 perform item (perform skill is maxed as well including enhancment line) so DC is high. I know how the raid goes, I have 8 succesful completions with my cleric and 3 with my bard. And yes i know that people use evasion toon to ppl mobs in the corner first, however, may be its something about Orien but out of my 11 runs, 0 runs where with someone to pll mobs. People seem to just expect bard to do both, i guess, cause even when i asked about a monk (or alike) running ahead of me, this never happened. My problem that i seem to fail to arrive to the ice and air base first (fire seems fine), and then have hard time to control mobs that are getting hit all over the place! Should i just start screeming in the voice chat: "Wait, i have not done buffing! I am not there yet!"? Or may be i should not even bother with second song (screw double fascinate, deal with the mobs yourselves, i have more importance job to do - i have to outrun that barberian ahead of me that is already charging to the next base!), should I just run to the base once i have an opportunity so i ll have a chance to get there first to fascinate everyone?

I always chuckle to myself when I hear raid leader say let bait and bard go first. It hardly ever happens. For some reason people just dont want to give them a head start.

People should check that their bard is ahead of them.

As a side note, on Thelanis, bards often hit only "fire base" and mephits, while crowd control on "Ice base" is provided by arcane casters.

If people keep swinging madly at fascinated foes, then there isn't much you can do to fix the situation ....

What do you do with mobs that did not get fascinated? What you do if you do not arrive to the base first?

If a couple of foes save againt my Fascinate song or they are "awoken" by clumsy melee, I use Otto's Irresistable Dance spell and then Fascinate again. Otto's Irresistable Dance (short-term, single-target, no save, it requires Spell Penetration checks) usually buys you enough time to bring things under control.

Never tried, but if things look very bad, I reckon you might also drop Mind Fog + Crushing Despair (it debuffs Will save even if targets save against it) + Otto's Sphere of Dancing.

But, I assume it can be solved by reading the guide to Bards in EV6.

Nope. This is pretty much why I don't play my bard in EVON6 anymore. Then after people hit the mobs out of fascinate they ask if your DC is high enough. 76-95 isn't high enough? Ummm... 55+ is high enough.

I think Virtuoso needs a different superpower and all bards need to get a fascinate that works like enthrall. Sometimes I wish fascinate would work on my own party members, or that BIG letters would flash across the middle of the screen "IT'S FASCINATED STOP HITTING IT!"
