    Default The Lavadiver 13 Sorc/5 Fvs/2 Rogue

    I've always been fascinated by lava in DDO. Swimming in Deep Lava would be awesome.

    Aiming for 13 sorc fire savant / 5 fvs / 2 rogue. I'm not trying to get Ranger past lives, this is just a flavor build that I enjoy playing at lvl 13 right now.

    I use the lvl 12 Sorc Fire savant prestige line for +10 Fire Resistance, the FVS inherent fire resistance at lvl 5 for another +10. With Fire resistance +30, that's a total of 50 Fire resistance without any expensive GS or red dragonscale robe.

    A shield or armor with small augment slot gives +4 fire resistance.

    The Rogue fire trap lore enhancement gives +2 fire resistance.

    Total of 56 Fire resistance.

    Then I have a cheap Fire shield spell or scroll for 50% fire absorption. Farming Sands I get Firestorm Greaves for 33% fire absorption.

    Deep Lava = 20d6 fire damage = max 120
    Fire resistance: 120 - 56 = 64 damage left to absorb

    And then I can start spending ingredients for +15 GS fire resistance and 10%/15%/20% fire absorption.

    Now with both greensteel items:
    Fire resistance: 120 - 71 = 49 damage left to absorb

    I don't understand how multiple fire absorption items "stack". I tried multiplying them: 50% * 67% * 80% * 85% * 90% but it doesn't fit with Vengeance777's damage numbers after absorption.


    Here is the output from the character planner. I didn't do the enhancement right because I don't have the last version with the savant prestige enhancements.

    I mostly melee inside my firewall, sometimes throwing fireballs and kiting with Scorch when things go wrong.
    I use greatswords and greataxes with Master's Touch. With buffs I don't have any problems with to-hit, my damage output isn't too bad for a melee caster. I don't have power attack but I'll probably take it at lvl 15 since my to hit is ok.

    My Lavadiver is now lvl 18 with :
    Fire shield +50% Fire absorption
    Golden Greaves +33% Fire absorption (paid a FRDS for them )
    GS Greataxe of Fire I with +15% & +10% Fire absorption
    GS Cloak of Fire II with 45 Fire resistance

    also an outfit with a large guild augment slot (+8 Fire resistance)

    With the +10 Fire res from FVS and +5 from Fire savant 1, I have :
    68 Fire resistance, 50%, 33%, 15%, 10% Fire absorption.
    0 to 5 damage in Deep Lava.
    In the Twelve enclave, thanks to city regen (1hp/6sec), I lose about 30hp per 2 minutes of swimming in lava. It would be less and close to 0 if I had Silver Flame favor(2hp/6sec).

    When I get my 12th lvl of Sorc and Fire savant 2, I'll have 73 Fire resistance. And another +20% Fire absorption when I complete my GS Gaxe.

    I am still unsure about how Fire absorption items stack with each other.

    Update on stats (with +2 buffs from airship):
    33 STR (34 at lvl 20), 26 CON, 400hp (no GS HP item yet), 1563sp (crafted FF ring of Power IX).
    I've completed 2 Shrouds, no problem getting in PUGs.
    I've taken the PA feat but not really a problem, my to hit is high enough for the content I run. Divine Power is here in any case.

    This build works very well in ETK elite (end fight).

    Lvl 19 at the moment, I took the 2 FR from Rogue trap lore enhancement to get to 75 Fire resistance.
