We have met the enemy and he is us. Pogo
This is the worst idea since the "offer wall" There is overwhelming (possibly unanimous?) support against implementing this. I haven't seen a single person saying this is a good idea. Turbine, what were you thinking?!? It doesn't matter how much Turbine thinks this is a good idea. If every one of your paying customers doesn't like it, well guess what? It's a bad move.

Wait, can you hear it? Is it? The worlds smallest vio..nah... nevermind... it can't be, its too small..
I was going to quote nearly every post in this thread followed by the hated "THIS! ^^". But I though these pictures would convey my disappointment.
You're really going to make it so that only the people that do nothing but play this game 24/7 can craft the good stuff? Really? What about the casual gamer? Or the people that have real life obligations and can't sit in front of the computer with a case of Red Bull or Mountain Dew Code Red for 20 hours a day? Or is the new target group the WoW castoffs that have free access to their parents credit cards?
If this change does go through to live they can count on roughly 90% (I made that number up) of the current crafters either not ever crafting again or /ragequit-ing the game completely.

Not required to use those items, but aren't you asking for WoW crafting? no thanks.
Crafting should mean something. The results should reflect the investment. I agree that some of the items and enhancements appears to be uber-bad (ie, chattering ring) but if they spend more time modifying what various raid items could be consumed to provide different results it might be worth it.
It's vary easy to get multiples of raid loot. Some, not so much so.

I thought the whole point of crafting was to reduce the need for rare raid stuff. *** is turbine manglement thinking? I'm glad I haven't wasted a lot of time crafting. I don't run raids, I don't have the time. But this makes crafting completely useless for me.
Eh, maybe I'll go back to playing console games, sure they don't get updates but at least I don't have to worry about some idiot deciding that I can't play the game.

There is no second rule.
I do not agree with the OP's list of OK.
Shroud ingredients are not okay. Epic loot/tokens is not okay. Named items is not okay. Astral diamonds is definetly not okay.
For standard prefix/suffix barely better then what you have in the best combinations none of the above is okay.
If we are talking about some sort of expanded more interesting system then we can talk about some of the above, but not astral diamonds that is pure pay to win.

SOME pieces of raid loot may be relatively easy to acquire. Usually though it's because no one wants it if they get it and will give it to you.
Also, if these items become required for crafting...where are you going to store all of them? Mule toons (if the items are BtA) should not be required. There is no worthwhile reason I can see for requiring rare, bound, non-stacking items for crafting.

Well, on the bright side, if crafting starts to require raid loot or shroud larges, guess what will be on sale in the ddo store soon?
Requiring that players run 20 Reaver's Fates in order to have a CHANCE to craft a particular Greater Bane shard is just plain stupid.
What the hell were you people thinking?
If you want to do something like that, I could see requiring a generic, player-chosen piece of named loot, but requiring a SPECIFIC piece of named loot is just asinine.
I like the fixes in this patch. I like the fact that you all TRIED to balance the cost of crafting high end weapons. I am glad that you made the attempt. Your execution of that attempt at balance is just plain ****.
