I knew this would happen! We get a mia culpa from MadFloyd and everyone is saying "Thank you!" and "You devs rocks!" and "See they listen to us!" But each and everyone one of you has forgotten that MF's first post was, at best, a unintentional lie, and, at worst, a bald faced lie, and you're letting him and Turbine off way to easy.

I guess it's really true that Americans will forgive anything.

We thank him for listening, and the quick reaction and decision to postpone the patch.

I believe forgiveness is a more important trait than holding grudges.

Most likely there is at least one person in the development team that at some point in time thought it'd be a good idea to do what currently is on Llamania. However, I don't see any reason to doubt the current preview is not what they want it to be.

I also see no reason to doubt the patch is already done and had been scheduled to go live within the next week with no time to revamp the crafting bit. They could they wouldn't need to stop the update. I consider it more likely the topic if the meeting was about if they should stop the patch from going life. So, right now I am happy they did.

They announced they will keep us posted as news come available - for me that's good enough. I can still get upset then when I don't like the new news. My wife gave me a quota about how much, often and long I get to be angry about a game. I need to choose my times wisely, you see?

It's not about holding a grudge, it's about accountability and truthfulness.

Would you let your significant other or a friend lie to you, and then when they make a better apology you just start feeling like everything is perfect again?

No, but I care more about my significant other and friends than I do DDO. In the end it`s a game and a lot cheaper to divorce if I do get tired of it.

I take it this way Yaga this is a place of escape if we go about just hating and being unforgiving of every oops this place would be no better then the world we play here to escape from.

Now no knock to the devs but we all know this was no simple mistake the back lash is the only reason this wont see the light of day I am glad though that we can still make fuss when something is just not right and that people's voices were heard at this point. A lot of us are social butterflies we not only took to this forums but we went other places stuff like that speaks in volumes. Having a voice that counts is what people are thanking nothing more I am glad they listened and hopefully will keep that much up.

I dont expect perfection all the time just a quick clean up when a mess happens.

    Exactly.

No accountability is why this nonsense keeps on happening in this game.

I agree.....somewhat....if it wasn't a habitial problem. (Not stating MF is a habitual liar)

    ...however....

I also believe that MF was likely under "red DA" to put out some kind of statement yesterday. It was an unfortunate post.

I would really like to see some type of open forum/chat btw the developers/management with the players to discuss the giant disconnect that has existed for years. An honest explanation to why things get this far without someone saying...."Hmmm"....

    It won't happen though.

Grim, yes, but it would keep the number of GEOBs in the game limited by random loot drops.
This is how crafting was originally described to us... No idea why they didn't stick with that... The new system allows unlimited crafting of GEOB shards.

That's what they are trying to fix.

    MF,

Now that you have made your post, can you comment on when, if even, the ML "bug" is truly a bug, and if so when it will be fixed. If it is not then would you comment on the thought process behind having BtC crafted weapon with a higher ML than the exact same item from random loot?

They were plenty of us that pointed out that change was a good one with a fair work-around... so it wasn't 100% rage.

I think offer wall and this thread are the only two changes I've seen that hit 100% disapproval.

I mean, I'm married. If I wouldn't move on after my wife apologizes, I wouldn't still be married...

Isn't that the point of an apology? It's so that people can feel like things are good again?

Keep your Pitchforks sharp and your Torches dry, comrades!

But yeah, this is getting old and lame. Enough with the extreming the middle tactics.

Raid loot is the 'play the lottery' strategy to getting powerful. Keep raiding, and eventually you'll hit it big and get that uber gear.

Crafting should be the 'saving for retirement' strategy, keep working and eventually you'll have enough to get that really good gear you want crafted.

Requiring rare named and raid loot, and tomes, for crafting, destroys that divide causes the two strategies to conflict.

No accountability is one of the causes of a lot of the world's problems, but this is neither the time nor place to discuss that.

I'm glad its stopped, I was about to sell all my essences as people make the mad dash to craft what they want.
And I was nearly certain Mournlands had to have not seen the changes for them to show up. Heh crazy Turbine, skipping over your testing group (I know this wasn't really change that needed testing, but it did need feedback).

The more i look at this the nastier it looks.
If the goal was to let named items into crafting then surely can think of a better way.
Throwing arbitrary named items to each recipe looks silly and adds a complexity layer, let alone the relative rarity of named items.

The thing i would wish to be able to do is to crunch named items into essences.
That would make sense regarding the extraction of magic from magic items.
Collectibles are reasonable since they are supposed to be known magical powered reagents.
But applying whole finished items instead of components of magical power or extracted essences? Way no.

Otherwise by the same logic you should be able to craft named items or unslotted items as you wish.
Making the whole thing arbitrary, complex, illogical and controversial isn't helping making crafting popular.

Kudos for the devs that stopped the train before the plunge, let's have it thorougly revised.
