We will NOT require bound named items as ingredients.

Many ingredients, and the *amount* of some of these ingredients were out of line.

Mournlands did not have an opportunity to see or comment on these changes.

Thank you sir. I am sorry that you drew the short straw for telling us whats up, but I for one respect you for stopping this before it ever had a real chance to get off the ground. +1 to you, and I am looking forward to whatever takes its place.

    It's very appreciated.
    I'm very grateful.
    Thank you.

I'd like to leave it at that, but given what's happened so far... can we have a dialogue now on where this is heading before it creates more headaches for both ourselves and you folks?

Thanks Cub... er, Madfloyd! Appreciate you guys listening! This is a great relief since it would have made getting raid loot an even more difficult grind.

I think this is a historical Lamannia moment; you ACTUALLY stopped a crappy update from being uploaded to live for once! Well done on closing the loophole(I don't think I wanna know how it was done) and getting your head back on!

    Default More clarifications please

    MudFloyd

First: THANKS FOR STOPPING THE TRAIN

Second: Please please please, tell us that neither astral diamonds and tomes are going to be needed, please specially astral diamonds.

Suggestion: USE SOUL GEMS, SO FAR THEY ARE USELESS.

    Thanks

Thanks Mud, that was exactly the type of response I was hoping to see. I am still worried about tome usage in crafting (for anything other than ability raises higher than +6). And their inclusion will still lead me in the New Coke conspiracy direction. At least I still have *some* hope of getting 'decent' low and mid-level returning shurikens now.

Madfloyd: Looks at bad update...gets approval from DoD...proceeds to eliminate all copies of the update.

Is the entire update halted or did you just remove the bad crafting changes.

    ie.
    - You no longer need to take ingredients for crafting out of your bags to use them
    - The vendor in the crafting hall can now repair and buy stuff from you
    - Deconstructing items will now give you money as well as any essences that you would normally get (no word on how much but nice addition)
    - Cleric hirelings got the snot kicked out of them while another cleric stood by refusing to heal...they heal you much quicker now.
    - Essences received in chests no longer take a "loot slot" as they now work like guild renown and have their own roll and separate slot thus they won't cause you to get less items.

Well, I've been reading this thread for some time now, and I figured I might as well finally throw in my two cents.

It's been said innumerable times already, but I'm going to say it again for emphasis: THIS IS AN ALL-AROUND BAD IDEA.

Requiring rare or difficult-to-acquire named items (especially raid loot) is going to ensure that the loot system in this game will become greed over need. No one will put anything up for roll ever again because it "might be used in crafting". I'm sorry, but your guys' claim that dreamspitter and the chattering ring made it onto the list unintentionally is a load of BS. I find it hard to believe that someone could screw up coding that badly... And if they did, they should be fired because they're obviously incompetent.

GS/ToD boot ingredients: I wouldn't mind this if it was small/medium ingredients since those tend to drop by the busload, but large ingredients are a big NO. Especially scales. You can't honestly expect us to want to spend one of the RAREST drops in Shroud for non-GS crafting. I personally get skunked 9 times out of 10 on the chest in part 4 (or get something I have a million of already, like a bone), so when I see a scale in part 5, the LAST thing I want to do is waste it. Cannith crafting might be superior when it comes to weapons, but when it comes to equipment, GS crafting is where it's at. Unless you're going to increase the drop rates of the more uncommon ingredients (scales, shrapnel, stones), this is an awful idea. Same with requiring ToD boot ingredients for crafting. I've never ONCE been able to successfully farm every ingredient for my toons. I've always ended up buying at least one (usually demon's blood or devil's keepsake), so requiring any of these--aside from maybe the iron--for Cannith crafting is just ********.

+3 tomes: Who in their right mind thought that was a good enough idea to even suggest, who thought it was a good idea to actually implement on Lama, and do you actually think players would be willing to give up an item that's not even guaranteed to show up on 20th raid end reward lists just to be able to craft something that they can craft now? And don't go saying that high-end crafting is too easy or cheap. My crafter is 38 across the board, and it's been a struggle to even get that high.

Astral diamonds: Meh. Not like we can do anything else with them since you guys had the brilliant idea to make them BtC.

You guys have made some bad decisions in the past, most of which I've been able to take in stride. But this is just unacceptable. Get it together, Turbine.

EDIT: And of course, as I was working on this post, you guys stop the train wreck. Good for you. Still kind of annoyed that this even made it to Lama, but I can forgive it since you're not letting it go live.

Have any previous threads generated this much shock and awe in such a short amount of time, or is this a new record?

I'd say the closest is the offer wall...this one probably wins though.
