    Default Cleric 2nd Life

    About to TR my cleric, your opinions are welcomed if you see tweaks or major mistakes.

    I'm a cleric, and my 1st role is to heal. I take pride in healing solo raid (I've already done Shroud, VoD and Reaver's Fate on a 28pt build and Im looking to add some to the list as a TRed). I take pride in keeping everyone alive. With that in mind, I wish to keep my healing abilities, and tried to add some more spell penetration to help quests go smoother.

    Gears I've collected so far include Minos Legend, DT armors, ConcOpp GS bracers, Smoke +45HP GS goggles, Head of Fortune, Shintao cord, Dragonmarked ring, Light n Darkness Shield, Archmagi belt + 2 Ardor belt from Shavarath, Eternity gloves, Greater False life, +6 Dex, +5 prot items and I'm not looking to heavy farm for more items but a few (like the Bauble and the Napkin) as I'm free to pay with most adventure packs.

    N.B. I know WIS and CHA end up on uneven numbers, but as my guild isnt close to having +2 shrines on the airship, the +1 ship buffs will get me even.

    2 things:

    As a low level 2nd life cleric you will absolutely CREAM undead. Get Seek Eternal Rest Spell and a Sacred item- after lvl 6 & RS 1 you can likely go through any undead quest and just turn EVERYTHING. muahahaha (I had fun doing this lol)


    Also I dont see Quicken in your feat list. I consider this vital for end game raids- and recommend taking this at lvl 18. I only used it for raids- but it makes mass heal viable. Without it mass heal is too slow.


    One other suggestion; if you are really focused on healing you might consider the extra turns feat instead of improved metal toughness. Being able to supplement w/ burst tod and other quests can really help with mana and can often surpass what the additional 150 sp can give you.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Here's the revised build, with a few more tweaks.

    Starting stats:
    Removed 3 points in CHA to add 2 in CON and 1 in STR. With other enhancements/feats, this will raise CON to 18 at lvl 20 for the extra HP and will still manage to reach 20 CHA with ship buffs.

    Feats:
    I added Quicken and dropped Past Life: Initiate of the Faith, for which I dont see much use but at low levels.
    Changed the order a bit too, no impact on Level 20 stats.

    Enhancements:
    Dropped Improved Concentration III and IV, with my current build Concentration was high enough, this build will even give me an extra rank.
    Dropped Cleric Divine Intervention, if there's no one around to raise me anyway if I die, I don't see how 1 DI will really help saving a raid for example, except maybe in Shroud Part IV or Reaver's Fate where you can't be raised, but where I never die anyway. In trouble, there's always Death Pact.
    With the extra points, I added Cleric Improved Spell Penetration II for an extra +2, which I hope will give my CrowdControl spells, BB, Implosion and Destruction that extra DC needed.
    Also switched Human Greater Adaptability Charisma I for Constitution I (as I said, the ship buffs will now give me a even number on CHA.)

    With the current gear and ship buffs, HP will be 467 and SP 2166.

    CON 24
    INT 10
    WIS 37
    CHA 26

    A few notes:

    If you ever do TOD, Abbot and VOD in particular- as a capped pure cleric you will be expected to have DI. DI is to put on another player: notably the caster kiter in TOD, and the lighter upper on the way to VOD. It's also helpful say on the tank in EVON6, and I'm sure a few other places. I've never had it b/c I always splashed something in my healer builds but people do expect a pure cleric to have it and there will be grumbles if you don't. That said it is your build and your choice- if you don't want to have it, then don't.


    Spell Penetration is not the same as your DC. You get your DC from maxxing out Wisdom and items- like the napkin you mentioned. Spell Pen will help you overcome spell resistance- if you see alot of "Blue circles" pop on enemies when casting spells- that is spell resistance. If you don't see alot of that then you don't need more spell pen.

    I don't really think you need any concentration enhancements as long as you are maxxing concentration with your spell points. After all that is what quicken is for if you are getting smacked around alot.

    I think your hp & sp goals are excellent and overall you have a great build.

    PS:
    Oh and you are right; I do find Past Life: Initiate of the Faith helpful on a High Healing Amp melee toon for self healing purposes; but it really isnt of any use on this build.

    Hey , i would definetly take Divine Intervention, you'll be real usefull in Abbot raid, solving puzzle pre-VoD, tossing a DI on the Shadowtank/kiter in ToD. Keeping yourself alive in any other raids/quests (a dead healer is a useless healer).

    I myself started my 2nd life with higher Con (16), again, a dead cleric is a useless one and i lowered my cha (13) and str (11). it's kinda anoying at lower levels, but you'll reap the reward at higher levels.

    Charisma is not that superusefull. It will grant you more aura's, but i never run out of aura's (got 9). Turning is fun, but really... not that much fun

    Rest is looking good, although since i went completely healbotty, i took Empower Heal and not Maximize and must say, with the boosts and enhancement i never tend to use mass heal coz my mass cures heal enough.

    Maybe my build view is a bit personal, i dunno but it really works for me and i haven't had any complaints bout my char yet

    I strongly encourage you to drop Incredible/Prayer of Life down to 1 rank each and get the basic Smiting line. With that, a Potency item, and Maximize, your DP will do (23.5 * (2 * 1.9)) * 3 / 2 = 134 DPS on a triple stack, which is nothing to sneeze at for such a tiny time and AP investment. In my experience crits can't be relied on, and healing that can't be relied on isn't useful.

    Thank you all for your advice.

    Divine Intervention is back on the table, as you did make powerful arguments. I will drop Improved Concentration I and II. If in trouble, ill still have the Quicken to bypass Concentration checks, like in Shroud Part II.

    I've struggled a lot about the dropping CHA and STR for extra CON, and I still am... I really dont mind having a harder time at lower levels because of the STR since it is so easy to find any PUG group as a cleric, but I really want to make the most of the +3 tome CHA I found. In the end, I think I'll leave my starting stats as they are, I find the extra healing burst so usefull to get me out of trouble, since it is a safe cast (sure to cast it (unless tripped), mass heals for ±140hp).

    About the Prayer of Life vs Smiting Line, I've also decided to stick with the Prayer of Line maxxed out. I find Divine Punishment useful, but rarely (or never) needed. The most useful it is would be on high HP bosses, but most of the time I'll find myself having to constantly heal, preventing me from keeping 3 stacks on the target for a long time.
