Definitely an idiot I will avoid and not join a group he's in or let into any group I form.
Well, he started another Shroud right after he left the group, but well, it's just a Shroud, he was a non-factor anyway, Harry still got beaten in 1 min, there was nothing to worry about (the guy was a fighter), but definitely not the mentality which helps you to get into more raids. The only thing I can give to that guy is the decline button next time.

A helpful thing to do is create a private chat channel and have the people you enjoy playing with join it. Not so much on a filtering level, but at least you can send a single mass tell-like message to people you know won't hassle or cause grief in your party. MyDDO helps you filter the bad builds, but alot of times Myddo doesn't update and sys nothing about a players skill and knowledge of the game. Tells and a "Do not group" list is the best way to filtering people. Usually you can tell idiots just from how they respond in tells.

You'll want to go log in, open your "Options" tab. Go down to "UI Settings" and approximately 3/5 of the way down will be a box that you can check the box that hides all active DDO subscriptions that are 6 months or newer.

    So there is a filter.

My approach to pugging is to convince the puggers that join your group that they are entirely superfluous and they are just there for the ride. Contribution is voluntary.

This is really my attitude. I don't solo simply because I like company.

After a few quests like this players good and bad alike start keeping up and finding useful things to do (even if it's just smashing boxes for some extra ransack xp).

Eventually when I know the players that I'm with my attitude changes and I start pushing myself harder into situations that I can't handle alone. Die harder is a good motto and give the people your with something to do besides tagging along. People love to end up in an excrement storm and actually pull through it with you because of their timely actions and some good teamwork.

Pugging is great and it enriches the community and makes the game overall a better place to be. I'd much rather teach something sooner rather than having to do it in the middle of a raid where idiocy can actually lead to failure.

OP your story was entertaining, sorry for your frustrations.

Lithic is 100% right on this one: you have one of two kinds of puggers. Those that will be team players and not be a burden, and those who are "entertainment". your best bet is to laugh it off, turn it into a joke to post about in guild chat or in a chat channel, squelch the guy and move on. Honestly, it is not worth the stress to get upset over a bad player trying to make himself feel better by trash talking you .

Lol agree with this, there will always be players who will do silly things in quests, you just have to put up with it really. Follow some of the good advise on this thread, for thinning out the stupid players. Luckily there are alot of good players that make up for the bad ones who cannot team play.

I tend to just add send a tell please at the end, usually works.

I REALLY like the haiku idea mentioned earlier on ;D Definitly going to do that.

Yeah what idiots those players must be thinking you were only joking about the Haiku requirement!
