Well to list my names it would be.....

Blakk Wilder=Name from the book "The Devil's Kiss" by William W. Johnstone
Dhurkahn Blackblade=Name from the book "Conan and the Treasure of Python" by John M. Roberts
Grundal Alebane=Just sounded like a good dwarf name.
    Kharela Redhawk=Another Conan book.
Tarvos Firebrand=First name was from a book on Celts.
    Piraat=Named after an ale.
Durzo=From the "Angel of Death" series by Brent Weeks.
    Brudder Alebane=Stolen from my brother.
    Stonak KegBottom=Another dwarven sounding name.
Teynon Saor=Wanted Teyrnon but was taken, from the book on Celts.

So while I come up with a couple of names I get a lot from books I read. I just try to find the more obscure books so there isn't 20 of the same name running around.
    ... a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel,
    Seeking the bubble reputation,
    Even in the dragon's mouth.

Well, if any of you are fans of the Forgotten Realms, you might catch on to where my name came from. In the lore of the Seven Sisters, the oldest and most powerful of the daughters of Mystra is someone who is commonly known as The Simbul. However, her REAL name was Alassra (a little known fact).

Now back when I was still playing PnP, I convinced my DM at the time to allow me to run the daughter of Lareal Silverhand (another of the Seven Sisters) and Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsen. In honor of her sister, the daughter was named Allasra Arunsen...hence my toon's name.

I simply kept the last name for all my toons as a theme and added the name of my first long-term PnP char, Sorcya (who was named after the character from the movie Willow)

Aresta Tre'Dain: (Pronunced Arrest-ah) My first character in DDO; I was trying to make one of my PnP characters (Arysta Tre'Dain), but had to change the spelling. She's been perpetually at level 11 for over a year now lol. (Ranger 6, Paladin 5)

Ariesta Tre'Dain: (A-RHEE-sta) Same as above, except that she's my second character and now my completionist (or will be, eventually).

Arieanne Wightsbane: (Air-E-ann) My main, and first to hit 20. I decided after I made Ariesta to go with an Ari-prefix theme. (Ranger12, Fighter 7, Rogue 1)

Arialias Trapseeker: (Air-E-Ale-E-as) We needed a rogue at low levels, and Alias seemed rogueish to me.(Rogue 4)

Arielleen: (Air-E-ell-EEN) Just playing around with a new build, really. (Fighter 2, Barb 3)

Ariarachne Tre'Dain: (Air-E-a-rack-NEE) The origional plan was to make all of Arysta's family from the PnP days. Ariarachne was her mother (drow priestess of Lloth). Arachne is spider in Greek, and also part of Greek mythology. (Paladin 5)

Now for the more fun names..

Mercifulll Fate: Metallica song, also one of the bands that inspired Metallica. (Cleric 20)

Dyerseve: Another Metallica song. (Cleric 10)

Kirrk Hammett: Member of Metallica (Bard 4)

Mysadventure Calamitas: I wanted to test a new build, and thought Mysadventure would be an amusing name. Calamitas is Latin for disaster, or misadventure. (Monk 8, Ranger 6)

Scherazade Spellsinger: Legendary Persian queen, and the storyteller in One Thousand and One Nights. Bards were historically storytellers. She's a spellsinger, hence the surname. (Bard 4)

Slytywycked Wytch: (Slightly wicked witch) I wanted to play with the new Sorc prestiges, and seeing as she's a Sorc, she's only slightly wicked. (Sorc 4)

Uglybetti Gonnasquishyou: She's a HORC fighter, and ugly as sin lol (Fighter 6)

Auryne Moonchild: (OR-in MOON-Child) The Neverending Story is one of my favorite movies. Auryn was the childlike empress' talisman, which held great power and guided Atreyu throughout the book and movie. Moonchild is the name Bastion gave The Childlike Empress (and also was his mother's name). (Ranger 5, Fighter 2).
Alts: Arieanne Wightsbane. Mercifulll Fate, Ariesta Tre'Dain, Conqueste Sojurne, Mysadventure Calamitas, Flawlless Victorie, Ransaque Bonus, Ingenius Debilitation, Persistence, Theholyhand Grenade, Dyerseve, and many others...

Used Aeolwind since 1999, Considering aeol is I think greek word for storm, wind is pretty self explanatory. Guy named Greycloud on emarr back in EQ helped me come up with the surname. I miss the days of community that solid =/.

Moraser was a D&D character from 1st edition. Anlona, Arzandra and Melisandria are all just made up.

    Cool Zenaphia Amastasia

Oh my, when I made this toon, I intended on spelling it Xanaphia <Same Surname> ... The story behind this is pretty simple. Because that was my very first table top toons name. My first paper and pen toon was a ranger, longsword ambidexterity <TWF> Elf ... So I made my first DDO toon a TWF Ranger Tempest. If you look in the PHP <Player Handbook> of 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons, you will find the spelling Xanaphia as a recommended name for a female elf, and Amastasia as a recommended Surname for and Elf. To my dismay, it was already taken. So I misspelled it.

    Default Names:

Changsheng - Was hoping to get another name, but the name Yunchang and GuanYu were taken. Tried to get a name to honor a character I admire and look up to. Found Changsheng to be listed under his name as well, meaning long living (to Yunchang's Cloud is long). I guess, the reasoning behind why I wanted this name, was I wanted to live up to my own name ... or at least follow in the footsteps of another.

Ceebtsheej - My real name, as my character name. It means something along the line of a safe-haven, or heaven if you like it that way. That byfar is hard enough for me to live by ... was hoping if I could develop character and confidence in myself while playing him ^^

Castagir was taken from the last name of Sunda Kastagir, who dies fighting the Kurgan in Highlander. The correct spelling was already taken, so I changed it. Many people recognize it from the movie, and I get a lot of "there can be only one."
Main: Castagir (completionist), officer of the Fighting Clowns of Sarlona. Alts: Modric, Modrich, Kristna and others.

    http://chriswetherell.com/hobbit/

I used the above site several years ago and it gave me the name of Bolo Grubb of Little Delving. I have used that name ever since. I like that it also sounds like bowl of grubb (grubb=food) and since I like to eat it just fit. I am very hobbit like in that I like to eat and drink

Gijo = G. I. Joe, as a kid I always wanted to be in the Army and my real first name is Joe, so I got that nickname very early on. And yes I had a very nice career in the Army. Also funny how many people pronounce it Geejo which works for a name too.

Captcaveman was a child hood favorite and just seemed to fit for a Horc barbarian.

Twistedsistr just seemed to work for a spellsinger :-)

Stormanne Ragerender - Human Barbarian - Storman has been my nickname for most of my life and this was the name of my first PnP character
Scotthe Ragerender - Human Monk - Play on my brothers name and stuck with the Ragerender surname
Rondal Ragerender - Dwarven Fighter - Father
Lindana Griffinwrathe - Dwarven Paladin - Mother
Paulette Ragerender - Human Cleric - Wife
    Taylora Turlburr - Halfling Sorcerer - Step-daughter
    Jamesie Turlburr - Halfing Rogue - Step-son
Jaiyar Ragerender - Half-orc Monster build - cousin
Smoaky Prophetblade - WF FvS - cat
Mojeau Ambergaze - WF Wizard - cat

and I have a couple that are completely made up...

Sinaj Nilpoj - Half- elf warchanter - spell the name backwards
Aistyar Toraer - Drow Pale Master - Went to the Eberron elvish translator site and typed in mistress of death and this what it gave me

ZAAL - I suppose I felt inferior to my brother when it came to D&D... He had all the books and I seemed to follow in his path - so when DDO finally came about, I went the castor route to make up for my perceived lack of intellegence! meh.

Also, DDO was my (and still is) the only MMORPG i play , leaving the vast majority of my gaming experience in single player mode (Counter Strike not withstanding!).

As such, the castor class a many of said single play games are simply amazing , especailly considering the graphics built to support the magic.

I was lucky enough growing up that I had some friends who couldn't stand the **** on the radio and made me tons of cassettes that broadened my horizons, and the Ramones were one of my favorites.
