Default 2 monk levels or pure fvs?

    Pure
    Capstone
    FVS DR
    More spell slots
More spell points (its not very important, i have talisman, bauble, torc, conc opp, spell storing. so i can say i have a 2nd mana bar ^^)

    18/2
    Evasion
    +1 DC
2 bonus feats ( so i can fit greater spell penet and greater evo. focus)
AC (only usefull against mobs. not enough for bosses and epics)

I think 18/2 is much more a consideration for a melee FvS.

On my melee soul, 18/2 lets me squeeze in the THF set of feats, and I get more use out of evasion (I wear DoD to make up for lost DR)

For a caster, I don't even think you get 2 bonus feats. What are you going to use your martial arts feats for other than toughness? If so, it is rather like only getting one bonus feat. Evasion is a little less desirable given you are getting less aggro.

The capstone also gives you +2 charisma which lets you either have more build points or more APs. Not huge, but an advantage.

Probably the worst thing about a caster soul going 18/2 is you only get 2 ninth level spells. As a melee, I only want one 9th spell (mass heal), but as a caster, you really want implosion too...with 18/2, which ONE ninth level spell would you take??

    I would stay pure.

Effectively only 1 bonus feat, since the spell pen is getting back what the 2 monk levels are taking away.

It's one thing if this is a melee build and you need the monk feats to squeeze in the full TWF line. But for a caster focus? Really, really bad idea to splash.
Kobold sentient jewel still hate you.

I'll be honest. I loved my 18/2 for the longest time especially through about 16th level. But as I get closer to 20 (19 now) I am starting to regret the loss of the spell slots and the penetration. I am pretty certain I will regret the DR loss at 20.

If I knew then what I knew now I would have gone pure.

    I love my 18/2 build.

Its pretty much identical to this:

It depends on how you want to play your fvs. You can focus on being a caster/healer or focus on melee/healer. I focused on melee and its super fun. No problem with healing either!

Trying to be good at all 3, caster/melee/healer isn't going to work. There isn't enough feats to go around.
