    Default Popcorn indeed!

    So many fingers trodden
And it even includes a call to vigilante arms. Batman approves.

Yet I believe that some of the responses have bested the OP. How people tend to blow misinterpretations out of proportions.

He didn't actually say that any of the mentioned groups are abusive, just that the people he finds abusive tend to belong to these groups. Its a difference between inclusion and equality.

On the other hand, generalizing the abusive peoples' traits in a way, that they throw suspicion on 3/4 of the DDO players is quite disturbing. Asking players to be wary of such a vast majority of other players and look for signs to report them should not be encouraged in any way. I just hope noone gets a paranoic predisposition towards others from reading this.

This thing is just getting better and better.

On a side note, i desided to re-read the OP and see if there was anything i did like.

    2) Support those that think like you do, within the context of being helpful, supportive, and beneficial to the DDO community at large. Again, it's not all about you; it's rather all about the party! Make good parties by being a good party member. That includes character build and real-life human personality. Play to your party role and be reliable and kind. Let others play their characters to their party roles. Be patient and helpful. With enough practice and playing with people of like mind, the game will become much more interesting and fun!

I actually find both of these great advice, but part 2 is quite ironic. You say, "let others play their party roll". Well what if my role is zergtank/umd/trapmonkey/supergimp/trspeedlvlmonger.

Please dont take away from my fun by joining my lfms that clearly state this playstyle. I myself NEVER join groups that say "no zergers".

    A great big -1.

Why? I completely agree with your opening and closing message: Be nice! Don't abuse or degrade people, and avoid those that do. Excellent advice for what is a social game.

But then you proceed to offer your very own negative stereotyping about whom to avoid. This may not have occurred to you, but your way of saying in effect "avoid people who zerg because they are often abusive" is no different than a veteran player saying "avoid noobs who dumped con."

    As to your specific stereotypes:

    a) Multiclassed are more likely to be abusive? Am I nicer when playing my pure fvs than when playing my multiclassed ranger-fighter-rogue hybrid? I dunno. What kind of player does that make me?

    b) Multi-role. So, because I think my cleric can offensively case and melee in addition to just confining myself to a healing role, does that make me abusive?

    c) Self-sufficient and specialized are not mutually exclusive. This is a false choice. And even if it wasn't, again, it's a needless stereotype.

    d) Zergers. Ok, these come in all shapes and sizes. A group agreeing to run through a quest quickly isn't abusive. A person who joins a "normal" group and leaves them in the dust is indeed being inconsiderate. But, if for example, a group sets up a zerg lfm and a 6th person joins that complains that the group isn't stopping for optionals, does that make the zergers abusive?

    e) Large guilds. Again, silly generalization. My guild has 6 accounts, and only 5 regularly active ones. If you play with my guild, and a 300 person guild, odds are you will run into more jerks in the larger guild. That has more to do with simple math than it does any relationship between guild size and character.

    f) Making someone because they are new is rude, I certainly agree. But when someone not only acts new, but petulantly overreacts to politely given advice from more experienced players, yeah, they're gonna get some grief. When someone is told they can improve their build with some more con or hp items and shouts back "don't tell me how to play my character", they shouldn't be surprised when other players avoid them.

In short (sorry, I can never seem to make things short) -- if you REALLY want to encourage people to be nice to one another, don't ruin that message by packaging it with a litany of bad stereotypes.

In this game, there is one person who has insulted me and my builds more than anyone else.

    This person:
    Prefers pure characters over multiclass
Prefers characters that have a single role rather than multiple roles
    Prefers specialization over self-sufficiency
    Prefers moving slowly over zerging
Prefers smaller guilds over larger guilds

What is it that I conclude from all of this?

    Your mileage may vary.

The initial and ending points were good advice. The best way to avoid abuse is to find people you like and have similar tastes to and stick with them. Everything in between was not helpful advice.

I humbly request that the mods remove or lock this thread. As far as I can see, this is like dancing naked in front of a hungry mother bear, except when the bear inevitably bites, you cut her babies' ****ing throats.

This is trolling for a negative response, plain and simple. None of the people this message is meant to warn will ever read it, and all of the people this is meant to defame will read it. And past history with the OP has taught us that he is not afraid to report or misquote people who disagree with him at all.

If there is any justice in the hearts of our forum moderators, this thread will die quietly now. Good people who disagree with the OP will receive bans or infraction points for this, and it is wrong to allow that to happen. Watching an entire page of responses disappear confirms almost everything I am saying.

I've heard that if you don't like dealing with people/things you should probably avoid them, seems like the OP doesn't want to...

Commenting on the thread: don't tell me how to play my character. Play your own character. Play with people that share your ideals. Don't play with people that don't.

as i have had ran with the op once in game, and that left a bad taste in my mouth, take the next statement as you will.

While there are many good points in the op, i couldnt get past the attitude of play the game my way or dont play the game that i got from it.
