    Question Fear spells

Do these spells have some kind of utility (cast by a PM/necro specced wiz/sorc) or even without HD restrictions are pretty much useless?
    Someone ever use them?
The slow effect makes life easier for the fellow meleers or it's always a pain to chase around a frightened monster?
Maybe some zerger speedrunner found in them his/her new secret weapon to awsomeness?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

I had a guildy cast it a few times when we were first coming up. Even he got annoyed. Fear arrows for the AA are much the same, but they at least have a chance of instakill.

Might be better solo, I don't really know.

fear = shaken which is -2 to all saves, it certainly does have a use.

Actually, i use the Fear spell, and love it. And no, not to annoy people, but to make some quest easy. Of course it isnt good in every situation.

Fear arrows + paralyzing bow = winwin

Fear is powerful. In DDO and RL.

Only downside is that no one likes to chase anything. (and can't seem to make themselves not chase)

Mummy pet fear, on the other hand, is pure fun.

Fear when used appropriatly can be a benefit to even a party. Such as using it to 1/2 the incoming mobs

The problem is not that the monster runs away but that people chase the one thats running away.

    Fear has two basic aspects
    1. Reduce the number of mobs swinging at the party
    2. Weaken their saves/to-hit

    Default fear is good

i like fear with my pm because it is necro-based & it is good protection because the mob/s run away when you aggro them

if there are any complainers in a party, i will not cast it
