Each raid generates loot from three tables:
    (1) Random loot tables, as normal. These are boosted by loot weekends/jewels etc.
    (2) Special, named loot, with probabilities based only on the difficulty of the raid and not on loot boosts.
    (3) Tomes (and maybe other loot) with probabilities that are affected by loot boosts.

This is certainly not an inconceivable setup, but I find it hard to believe. Occam's Razor backs me in my belief that raid loot is determined only by options (1) and (2), and that tomes are simply pieces of special, named loot subject to the rules of (2).

pretty much, but that (3) is included in (1), and (1) is created uniquely for each raid. so the only thing we dont know, is if +3 tomes are part of (1) or (2).

+3 Tomes cant be found in any chest and are BtC, so probably (2).

    Ah, so:
    (1) Raids, except The Shroud, have special random loot tables which do include, depending on the raid, varieties of bound +2 and higher tomes.

I still hold that Occam's Razor supports the idea that +3 and higher tomes are part of the normal named loot of the raid; (2).
