Nice recovery. Personally, I would have had the lost guy recall and I would've gone back to get him. That usually takes 2 -5 mins. Stuff happens. It is what it is. You made the call and it worked. Always be careful of ticking off your healers.....

People that have trouble communicating don't need any of your feel good, your such an elitist jerk protection ****.
HoX is one of the raids where if people don't listen or do their job, BTW new guys it's your job to say your new and try not to do what your advised not to do. I have had more hound runs go bad due to people not listening or when the question is asked "does everyone know what they are supposed to do", the new guys says nothing.
In a run with people that are new I explain what is going on a lot more then hea, this is my 5500th HoX lets just get it done. No one even said the new guys suck, but come on silence is just as bad as a vet being a ****** on a bad build.
I treat the healers like anyone else for several reasons. First, I play to have fun, if a person in the group is not conducive to that for whatever reason, then Im not going to run with them very much. I dont like being held hostage by an ahole because hes on a healer ya know. (not saying I wouldnt have gone back or would have, just saying) Second, just because someone isnt on a healer, doesnt mean they wont be on the next run.
So to say well thats just a melee that got lost we dont really need him (not what you said, but kinda the message implied even if its not what was meant) the next run he might be on a healer.
I think everyone should be treated fairly until proven a dbag

Sounds suspiciously like a VOD that occurred last weekend. Had a cleric that got lost the first time down, after many attempts at communication and his death, he recalls and gets lost again. Can't find him, he dies, recalls. I'm not the party leader but am getting tired of how long it's taking to get this guy to the entrance, so I recall to escort him and another cleric down to the entrance. I'm escorting and watching to make sure he's behind and right as I get to the fortress realize he's not there. Much noise on party chat, he dies again, we try to find out where he is. etc, etc.
Dunno if this is a griefing conspiracy or just a bunch of bad runs.
I do wonder though, because I got lost down there once(the area below vod) since then, i went all around down there, and learned the area, and honestly its not much to remember..
So what I'm curious about is how is it some of the oldest, pro'est, vets, grizzled old farts who have played ddo for ages, who can instantly adapt to a recent nerf and pull a kick-ass awesome build out of their butt, get lost down there. EVERY time. They fall 1/2 the times they run down to vod, and always at that first little jump(Little do they know they can run PAST that first little gap, up the stairs, and POOF look a HUGE ledge to drop down from and no-fail drop down to the next step lol)
hmm Oh hey, its another survey topic for Kuni

I don't normally respond to ignorant comments, but really c'mon. More proper communication? First of all you weren't there, 2nd of all you can't communicate with people who don't respond back to you, it's a two way thing... Oh and you want me to less full of my self, oh holier than thou as you pass judgement on someone you've never ran with or met?
Third, I said nothing of how bad the PUG was, in fact if you actually read what I wrote, the only person I complain about is that one griefing healer and I compliment everyone else in the party, so seriously take your negative attitude and... (insert favorite expletive here).
Really if you would like to critique the way I run a raid, come raid with me. Oh wait... I'd prolly decline you because I am an elitist prick. How's that for passive aggressive? LOL

Because they are really nubs in disguise. When the sub T first came out a few people were always putting up lfms to basically just run the slayer/rare/exp quests. We ran it all the time. We used tons of resources. It was actually hard at that time for a full raid group that stayed together to handle an encounter. Some of us actually took the time to learn where things are at, where certain portals take you, where the rares spawn etc. A lot of the so called ubers you speak of cant even show you where most of the rares are. Or if they get tossed by a beholder, they get all whacked out and recall because "there is no freaking way they can get back to the group"
That zone is great, and I encourage everyone to explore it. If you dont know where the named spider, specter, tiefling, orthon, and beholder spawn, get in there and find out

Ya I know it's old news, this really had nothing to do HOX with no healers. I really did just want to pat everyone in the group on the back and say good job guys. Sorry if it didn't work out that way.
The purpose of the not so short "short story" was only to give background information so you could see how well the group did do.

I have run a few. Always went well, but they take a bunch of work to keep organized.
While this is the best, I don't expect everyone to have Necro 3, or to flag for Abbot and successfully run it three times to upgrade the necklace.
The Nerve is the only decent Beholder protection available to F2P+Vale+GH players, which are a large portion of the VoD/HoX PUG scene.
I'm not a fantastic healer by any stretch of the imagination. But threads like this cause me to make a disappointed face. I've gone on VOD runs where the other healers were flat empty on blue less than halfway through, then stood around look like limp ****s and I find myself chugging 3 dozen potions to only get to the end of the run, someone say nice healing and Thing 1 and Thing 2 go "thanks!".
I do not care how ****ed off I get at someone. That is no reason to gold brick. Finish the run, say thanks for the group, squelch and move on.

Digressing from the original post but... I think this point on invisibility (sneak being the less efficient, but still viable alternative) needs to be stressed out more often in game, not just the forums, to all the weaker players (or decent players with weaker characters) out there. Less dungeon alert if all the lost souls just ran like invisible headless chickens. Visible headless chickens fluttering about The Subterrane will just attract them devils like a zombie hoard on a car alarm (l4d2)
(Asking them to stay where they're at never works)
You tried and that counts. In my post, I meant to suggest that everyone else should take your example and at least attempt to get people to understand the application of invisibility (any helpful tactic or tip really) in situations of that nature ^_~
Alright... I'm digressing too much... soooo to Vaguely relate it back to the original post... When things go bad, there's always a story left behind to tell =)!
Ahhh... listening.
VoD run a couple of days ago. "X (l17 geared barb) is tanking. If Sully turns around, block and give him time to get aggro back - kill trash or whatever." Standard stuff, right?
All fine until the L20 (ungeared) barb goes nuts and ignores the above, and repeatedly being told to stop hitting Sully. He couldn't handle the aggro and I think he was rezzed 8-10 times. Not sure what the biggest mistake was, having him in the party or whoever it was that rezzed him (or maybe just having a chuckle at all his broken gear). The whole excess kiting/splitting up thing meant that healers ran outta sp and we reformed. When I booted the L20 barb, 'e /told me "ty". What The ... ?
Griefer or noob? Either way I don't have to /squelch him 'cos that toon was quite memorable in his epic fail. Subsequent run was interesting, especially in terms of aggro management. My middling dps, middling skilled, almost serviceable AC toon ended up doing the majority of the tanking. But at least there was enough communication to make the change of game plan good enough, if a little rough around the edges.
I've also seen people who have some kind of rendering issue in the sub that messes with their frame rates. They continually miss ledges/walk off them/fall. Time for an upgrade, or tuning down the GFX. Not sure how many of those have listened...
Goe ahed... korekt mah spelin'.
Telling people to turn off Environment Stencil Shadows in their advanced graphics settings will clear up the every six seconds hitching that you get in the Sub (and Shadow Crypt).
After that, the area before VoD is massive (approximately 5 stories, you are on the second floor), and the pillar of light is a huge and graphically intense environmental hazard, so temporarily turning down your graphics settings is a good idea. In addition, VoD itself is pretty laggy due to the tight quarters and a lot of activity going on, especially when the second round of Orthons pop up.
HoX is not as graphically intense, so most of the problems that result there are due to people not listening, not graphical "lag".
