    Default PM vs Warforge?

Since we are talking about tanking builds for wizards has anyone considered the amount of healing that a PM is capable of? Ideally one would want to be able to tank + aggro + heal (or at least emergency healing). Perhaps a docent of defiance warforged would fit the bill better?

PM get abbot shroud - dr 8 and lich dr 6 or wrath 25% incorporeal, which is probably better for survivability then the docent but warforges get quicken reconstruct which is better for healing.

My PM tanks with Wraith+Displacement+Aura in some situations. Mostly when you aren't trying to actually kill the monsters. (example would be orathons in TOD)., Having some damage reduction really helps as well so I think the idea is pretty good.

I don't think its a great idea for bosses because its really hard to hold agro, but for trash mob tanking its not bad so long as other players are cooperating. If you can also get strong AC and HP (and we have a tank in guild who does this), then you can tank almost anything you can hold agro on.

The key with PM is you have to have your damage intake about equal your aura plus occasional negative burst. If you have to burst constantly, you will burn mana too fast.

In TOD I can handle the orathons for the whole fight on about 800-1200 mana for a typical group, even if the fight goes badly for the team, I can almost always do it without any pots. I tend to also throw a few webs to mitigate damage and a skeletal knight as an alternate chew toy for the orathons.

My personal experience with tanking on a caster:

I define tanking as tanking of raid bosses, trash mobs are easy on any class and don't really count. Tanking on a caster means (to me) taking aggro, keeping aggro, and keeping yourself alive.

The standard for me is Suulo in ToD part three.

On my pure WF sorc Psyborg I have tanked normal, hard and elite Suulo. I just tried on my evason wizard on normal and had issues holding aggro and having enough mana to last through the fight (in fairness the wizard was level 18 at the time).

Point being, tanking can be done by pure casters without evasion or shield mastery feats, it comes down to aggro and mana management.
