Thumbs down adventure packs, u only get one half

short and sweet. have you ever walked into a shop to buy a loaf of bread, and after paying they take the bag its in away and say sorry, not for you, for 'vip'?
same goes for ddo, why do we, the players that spend hard earned money on a game, get access to the adventure packs we buy (the loaf) but you take away our right to immediately enter hard or elite modes? (the bag)

with that said, i think its selfish and unfair not to let the players that pay insane amounts of money on turbine points for lousy adventure packs not to get the full benefit.

Um you do get to run hard elite if someone else opens for you or if you have another character that can open it. In a full group it is rare to not have at least one VIP player present. As a premium player myself I do occasionally get annoyed that I can't buy open elite in the store (or rather no REASONABLE option exists) but really it's not hard to get by without it except for when you are running favor in chain quests.

It's more like someone telling you that you have to eat your vegetables before you get dessert, but the VIPs can skip straight to desert.

sorry but i think you miss the point of vip.

vip = very important person. ie someone who has special privelages not available to normal ppl.

as it stands there is not many reasons to be a vip in this game. premium is by far the best idea. BUT we have this little limitation you stated. and you know what.. thats ok. because the VIP'S need that perk that says IMPORTANT PERSON.

its a defining thing that without it makes the vip sub system pointless.

for the record i used to be VIP, but am now premium os i also get the same "raw deal" you say - its all ok imo

    Edit: ^^ Whut they said.

I'm sorry, did you say something? I was too busy breezing through normal and hard of the new stuff to listen...

More seriously, I hope ya feel better now. It might be nice to elite once-and done things solo, but there has to be some incentive to subscribe to VIP.

Edit 2: After giving it thought I think the bread analogy is the wrong one. VIP is getting it home delivered shortly after it's baked. Premium is getting off your butt and going to get it yourself. F2P is NO BREAD FOR YOU!... until your chores are done!

I like this analogy, coz it supports the OP (in part).

Indeed Premium is get of your butt to get it.... VIP's get thing delivered, Premiums have to go to DDO store and get it... but you cannot get it, coz a "unlimited elite unlock pass" is not for sale. Thank you for supporting the OP

To unlock it right away on elite, should not come with the pack imo, the unlock pass should be obtainable in the store imo

Have you ever walked into a shop with a monthly subscribtion for bread? No, then that comparison falls short. The elite option is a perk for those that pay money to turbine every month. From a business point of view monthly subscriptions are better then one time payments and turbine is running a business after all.

I agree the analogy falls short.
A better analogy would be that the Premium players have to eat the crusty end bit of the loaf first before they can get the slices. VIP players can skip the crusty bit and just eat the slices.
However if a VIP opens the loaf for you then you can skip the crusty bit.
Many Premium people (including me) don't see the crusty bit as an issue as it's still nutritious (XP)

Nobody is "taking away" anything from you, let alone denying you some imaginary "right." Premium players have access to the exact same amount of content per adventure pack as everyone else. The only thing you're missing out on is a minor amount of time saved if you want to hop on elite right away. And not too long ago, even VIPs (who by the way, end up spending more money for the same content as Premiums) didn't have the perk of opening Elite from the start. We only got Hard.

So run the quests on normal and hard like everyone else, and enjoy your first time EXP bonus. Or find an elite opener, I'm sure that is pretty easy on most adventure packs.

Yeap exactly. People keep asking to obtain the benefits of VIP without also accepting the drawbacks of VIP as well. People also keep shying away from this point and acting like there are no drawbacks at all. If they think its not fair that VIP "has it all" while P2P gets the shaft, then VIP is the SOLUTION to their issue, and not the PROBLEM. Want the benefits of VIP? Go VIP.

Yes, but let's hearken back a bit.

Before there was the F2P model, all content had to be run on Normal to open Hard then on Hard to open Elite. We used to run our little hineys hither, thither and yon getting this done. Then the F2P model came, and soon(tm) after they introduced the VIP open on Elite ability.

I look at it as a perq that Turbine gave to VIPs after most having to go about it the hard way. The newer crowd that is now entering the game doesn't seem to understand the difference between a right (everyone gets it) and a perq (given to a few).

It's a perq of VIP monthly subscriptions. If it were a right, anyone who ever was a VIP would have it.

Man, this has nothing to do with the thread title.

I was expecting some rant about how the connected packs are separate when they should be together (Inspired/Dreaming Dark, both Droaam packs, both new Madness packs).

me too. instead i got a random thread about how somehow you only get half the content because you can't imediatly run elite.

sorry but i bought points 50% off and most content 50% off. already saving money compared to if i subscribed in less than 1 year of gaming. the fools who subscribe should at the very least recieve the minor perks currently available for vip and arguably more.
