Default A new player seeks feedback on a proposed build

    Hi,

I've been playing a couple of months, mostly with spell-based classes, and I'm looking to make a melee toon now. I tend to be aggressive in play style, often described as a "dps tanker" in other games - ie. survive by using an HP buffer to last long enough to kill enemies before dying.

I picked barbarian because it seemed to best fit that playstyle, and this is what I've come up with as a plan. I'd welcome feedback and suggestions to avoid pitfalls along the way.

Your alignment could be changed to neutral, or chaotic neutral to avoid taking unholy damage later, but if you wanna use pure good weapons or role play, it's fine. Get the .5 off of balance, it's wasted. You don't need to max jump, you'll have plenty of strength for jumping. Spot is generally considered better than listen, even though you get full ranks in listen, you might wanna take spot to 11 instead. Swim is not needed at all, again you'll have the strength to swim fine, especially with a + swim item.

If I were you, I'd change it to neutral, drop balance to 11, pull jump down to 10 or so, get spot up to 11, and put the rest in swim or tumble (if anything is left, if not no biggie).

All of these are really personal preference though. Your barb is just fine as is.

Take the DR Boost enhancements as early as you can and use them during boss fights. It saves a lot of incoming damage.

Pure Good weapons are incredibly more important than lowering the already-low damage of rare Unholy attacks.

    Cool

That build will work fine. I would also lean towards Chaotic neutral. Yes, at low levels it is nice to swing a PG greataxe....but, I would just try and get a Carnifex from Deleras. Use that until around 12th level. make a GS MIN II and you should be good to go.

    Just my opinion.

    Good Luck
