I've recently returned to the game and have decided on lvling a pure WF THF DPS pally. Was just curious what should I be dumping my skill points into? I'm thinking UMD is a safe bet, but I feel like my balance and jump are taking a serious hit.

If you are thinking in the long-term (i.e. at level cap), then UMD is probably the most useful/powerful skill in the game. That said, the benefit in the short term is pretty minimal, and can feel like a waste. By contrast, jump and balance are helpful in the short term, but become less useful at higher levels. Jump has an effective cap at 40, which means that the jump spell (castable from a clicky for +30 jump) + your strength mod will make those skill points ultimately wasted in jump. Balance is more useful, but only increases how quickly you get up from being knocked over; it doesn't prevent you from being knocked down in the first place. So, while balance is useful, I'd recommend finding a piece of gear with balance rather than putting points in it.
The thing about UMD is that it requires certain thresholds to be of much use. At about 20 umd is when it really starts to be useful. Then, you can use race-restricted gear and have a chance it some arcane wands like blur and repair. Eventually, 40 umd is the ultimate goal as that gives you no-fail chances at heal/reconstruct scrolls.
In conclusion, if you can put up with the useless feeling of umd for a while, then it is almost certainly your best use of skill points. If not, then go for balance over jump.
thanks, that's the confirmation I was looking for honestly and it reinforces my initial plan.
I've found myself missing concentration on my wf pally, actually. The ability to recast buffs in fights is very handy, and needing to kite away to recast zeal/divine power is annoying.
Also worth considering is intimidate, if you intend to fill the tank roll.
