    Default Anti-accidental necro feature

A lot of forums (EVE Online's for instance) have an auto thread lock feature after 90 days of inactivity. If no one has anything to say about something after three months, I think it's dead, Jim Unless you're a professional necro or something, most are inadvertant, say if you're using search, and forget to check the dates before adding your two cents.

Anyway, I'm not sure anyone is so necro-friendly (or should that be necro-curious?:0) that this would actually be a problem. What does everyone think?

I will wait for three... nay, five months then I will return with my response.

Not a bad idea, but i could be a problem for various character build threads, quest guides, etc.

They can be inactive for a long time before an update is required.

    No.

Because then we would not be able to heap scorn and ridicule on those unfortunate folks who accidentally necro stuff.

    /this.

Often a build will be posted, discussed, and then after 5 months or so a significant update will change something about the build. Someone that plays the build but didn't design it might then return and ask something like "Now that held mobs aren't auto-hit any more, how do you deal with this build's low To-Hit in Epics? Bosses I've always used Destruction on, but trash don't live long enough".
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

    yeah nah.

closing off threads could lead to more threads being opened and it's hard enough (at times) navigating through the threads we have already!

    /no

Sometimes threads go dormant for a while... but still contain useful information, and can be relevant... Closing threads just because they are old, is just limiting.

    How about a confirmation dialogue?

"No one has posted in this thread for 3 months are you sure you want to leave a reply?"
